ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted August 24, 2025 Posted August 24, 2025 Defensively I would put Baty at 3B and Mauricio at 2B. I'm not entirely sure that Mauricio plays 2B but...

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 24, 2025 Posted August 24, 2025 Vientos — three homers in three plate appearances.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted August 24, 2025 Posted August 24, 2025 Hmm, I don't remember that cartoon at allMauricio gets a hit
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 24, 2025 Posted August 24, 2025 We haven't exactly tattooed Elder in these last two starts, have we?5 runs (4 earned) over 12 innings for a guy who otherwise has an ERA north of 6.00
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted August 24, 2025 Posted August 24, 2025 Peterson is spot on again. 8 K's through 5He does remind me of Matlack. The same measured windup and effortless follow up
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted August 24, 2025 Posted August 24, 2025 Two walks in the 6th leads to two runs and Peterson's departure Brooks Raley time
Marshmallowmilkshake Old-Timey Member Posted August 24, 2025 Posted August 24, 2025 Walks do in our pitchers time and time again.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 24, 2025 Posted August 24, 2025 Too many walks, a couple of non-calls on borderline pitches, a few soft hits, and a GiDP attempt that Mauricio/Baty were slightly slow to turn all contributed to the two tying runs.Meanwhile the Mets have three hits thru 7, and nothing since two two-out singles in the 4th.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted August 24, 2025 Posted August 24, 2025 But we do have a two out rally with Soto coming up after the pitching change
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 24, 2025 Posted August 24, 2025 Good news: runners on baseBad news: Soto upI kid, I kid
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 24, 2025 Posted August 24, 2025 I'd rather see Soto swinging 3-0 than Pete swinging 0-0 in that situation.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted August 24, 2025 Posted August 24, 2025 Soto was perfectly happy to take a walk. The pitch on 3-0 looked ripe to hitThere's two outs meatball, swing
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted August 24, 2025 Posted August 24, 2025 Brooks Raley lifted with Acuna coming up. Brazoban is the choice.I'd rather see Stanek or Garrett here
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted August 24, 2025 Posted August 24, 2025 Of course Acuna singlesI don't see Brazoban A's a high leverage guy
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted August 24, 2025 Posted August 24, 2025 I guess this is about the time for things to unravel again...
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 24, 2025 Posted August 24, 2025 This game is an example of non-clutch pitching. In the 6th Peterson had three shots at closing out a scoreless inning and failed to get the 3rd out each time allowing two runs.In the 8th Soto also had three shots to get the 3rd out and also allowed two before finally getting the fourth batter out.Seven shots at keeping the inning scoreless and the hurlers went 1-for-7
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 24, 2025 Posted August 24, 2025 So how many times have we said: 'Here's an opportunity for a BIG Juan Soto moment'?And few, if any, times it's been answered.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 24, 2025 Posted August 24, 2025 OK, not the ultimate moment we would have liked, but nice two strike hitting and we'll take it!
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted August 24, 2025 Posted August 24, 2025 Juan Soto, Professional Hitter haha...
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted August 24, 2025 Posted August 24, 2025 I'm outside waiting for the miracle
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 24, 2025 Posted August 24, 2025 Mets STILL have never swept a series at this ballpark since its 2017 opening.
