MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted August 15, 2025 Posted August 15, 2025 (edited) I have known a virulent Met hater who roots for the Mariners for over 20 years.C'mon, Mets. Bust out the hitting and straighten out the pitching. It's about time.Scheduling note: Sunday's game will be honoring the Little League World Series, will be shown on ESPN and scheduled for 7:10 PM, so expect a lot of non-essential ESPN-type BS.Later Edited August 15, 2025 by Guest

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 15, 2025 Posted August 15, 2025 RH Luis Castillo (no, not that one) goes for Seattle tonight and, unlike Bryce Elder, he's like actually good and stuff: 3x AS, 5th in AL CY 2023A 3.52 ERA and 1.18 WHIP are his career numbers nine seasons into his career that has seen only one ERA as high as 4.00 (4.30 in his first full season in 2018).Not exactly a late bloomer as he made his debut at age 24. But, being from the D.R., he signed young and was traded five times, four prior to making the majors. - SFG signed him as a teenager but dealt him away three years later to Miami. - the Marlins then dealt him to SD as part of a multi-player deal at the trading deadline in 2016. - he was Padre property for Two Days!! at which point they sent him back to Miami in a separate swap. - Miami traded him that winter to Cincinnati and he'd finally make his ML debut later that season. - he made 137 starts for Cincy across five seasons until he was deemed expendable at the 2022 deadline and so he found himself in Seattle In all, a combination of playing in/for Seattle and having a far too generic name have combined to keep him out of the consciousness of most baseball fans save for those denizen of the rotisserie set where those who chose him probably got some valuable points from his consistently above average results and his ability to make almost every start: 33, 25, 33, 30, 24 (and counting) since 2021.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted August 15, 2025 Author Posted August 15, 2025 1-0 MarinersAlvarez is wearing teal gear, the Mariners color
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 15, 2025 Posted August 15, 2025 Both Franciscos now have the same batting average.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted August 15, 2025 Author Posted August 15, 2025 A leadNimmo couldn't cash but they got two runs
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 15, 2025 Posted August 15, 2025 Quite the see-saw battle thus far.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted August 15, 2025 Author Posted August 15, 2025 The Big DumperManaea is not fooling anyoneThe pitches are coming in flat
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 15, 2025 Posted August 15, 2025 So it looks like we're eschewing the big inning that's characterized NYM games recently in favor of a series of small innings.1 + 1 + 2 so far for ManaeaMets = 1 + 2 + ?
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 15, 2025 Posted August 15, 2025 Two in a row and [CROSSOUT]Alonso[/CROSSOUT] Nimmo looking to make it three.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted August 15, 2025 Author Posted August 15, 2025 [bIGPURPLE] Lindor Soto BOOM[/bIGPURPLE]
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 15, 2025 Posted August 15, 2025 Lindor had to HR first so Soto could follow ... since we all know that if there were still guys on base then Soto's ball couldn't have gone out.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted August 15, 2025 Author Posted August 15, 2025 Two of us hitting homers, in a row
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 15, 2025 Posted August 15, 2025 OK, Manaea. You put up a zero in the 4th inning. Let's see if you can do it again.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted August 15, 2025 Author Posted August 15, 2025 Rogers couldn't get it done last night. He gets another chance here
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 15, 2025 Posted August 15, 2025 I've only seen Raleigh once this year, and wow, I guess he really is that good.

ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted August 15, 2025 Author Posted August 15, 2025 Let's just keep trying what doesn't work
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 15, 2025 Posted August 15, 2025 Gary just called the groundout to third as "Handled by Vientos."My boxscore has Mauricio at third and Vientos at DH. Which is right?
