Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 21, 2025 Posted July 21, 2025 As the trade deadline approaches, only three American League teams (Sacramento, Chicago, and Baltimore, to a lesser extent) can be reasonably described as "out of the playoff picture. Into town come fringe contender Anaheim, and they have been given a challenge by their star player Mike Trout to muscle up at the deadline, rather than trade off parts. The Mets are in a position to give Mike Trout a wakeup call.LA lefty Ty Anderson (one of those parts likely to hit the market if The Angels do not show some spark over the next week or so) matches up against Kodai Senga.[FIMG=328]https://985thesportshub.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/88/2024/07/Tyler-Anderson-Angels_1721336399_.jpg?resize=1024,774[/FIMG][FIMG=372]https://s.yimg.com/ny/api/res/1.2/Zl7SzQS3r4zbrt5jM2bIMg--/YXBwaWQ9aGlnaGxhbmRlcjt3PTk2MDtoPTY0MDtjZj13ZWJw/https://media.zenfs.com/en/ap.org/862a7dc045264b83f8078ccba87147b7[/FIMG]

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 21, 2025 Author Posted July 21, 2025 Our bubble-butt firstbaseman is back also.McNeil in center does not seem to be a thing in any hurry to go away.

But given the current state of the offense, there's very little room to put Taylor in the lineup.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 21, 2025 Posted July 21, 2025 LAA is not as bad as we've gotten used to them being of late: last winning season was 2015 (85-77) and they've lost 85, 89, 89, and 99 games from 2021 thru 2024.But they're just one game under now (49-50) and +4 since June 1st. They also just took two of three from the Phillies which was right nice of them and in recent weeksdid the same to both the Yanx & Braves so they're not just feasting on a weak part of their schedule.
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted July 21, 2025 Posted July 21, 2025 Magic number: 64Mets must go 34–28 the rest of the way to be a 90-win team.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 21, 2025 Author Posted July 21, 2025 Sixty years ago last night, the Yankees' Mel Stottlemyre hit a grand slam off of Boston's Bill Monbouquette.Stottlemyre would add insult to injury 19 years later by taking the Mets pitching coach role that Mombo had been relieved of the previous year.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 21, 2025 Author Posted July 21, 2025 Hey, Yoán Moncada is still playing!
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 21, 2025 Author Posted July 21, 2025 I think this gets overturned, but it shouldn't have even been close.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted July 21, 2025 Posted July 21, 2025 Alvarez with a clean unpainted face tonight
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 21, 2025 Posted July 21, 2025 With all the splits Senga threw they must have gone through at least 15 different baseballs in the top of the 1st.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 21, 2025 Posted July 21, 2025 Mets: three outs on ten pitchesSenga: four outs on 27 pitches
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 21, 2025 Author Posted July 21, 2025 These Angels don't lay out on defense.
Bob Alpacadaca Old-Timey Member Posted July 21, 2025 Posted July 21, 2025 Alvarez sure had a chance at redemption there.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 21, 2025 Posted July 21, 2025 Three things we've seen a lot of from NYM pitchers in the 3+ games since the ASB- 3-2 counts- leadoff hitters on - infield hits by the opposition
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted July 21, 2025 Posted July 21, 2025 Senga looks like crap tonight.

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 21, 2025 Posted July 21, 2025 Gary mentioned Trout's first eight seasons: 2011 - 2019 [1009 OPS / 178 OPS+]Starting in 2020 he's appeared in less than 1/2 of LAA games [393 of 808]. His OPS+ was still 156 but he was only occasionally in uniform. His first eight full seasons he appeared in 89%
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 21, 2025 Posted July 21, 2025 They can't continue to lead the planet in BBs and expect to get away with it night after night.Especially seeing as how the offense has scored more than four runs just once in their last eight games.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 21, 2025 Posted July 21, 2025 Getting the ball out of the infield isn't something we're big on doing.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 21, 2025 Posted July 21, 2025 Three innings from the starter .... Yippee!
