Phil Maton is having a solid year setting up for the Cardinals, 1-3, 1.91 era with 44 strikeouts in 34 games, 2 saves. Would be nice to have him in a set up role.

would they want to send someone good to the Mets?

Correct. I should have been more clear. I think he was a guy who wanted to come back and was a little peeved that he was not offered a contract.

The funny thing is ... I think this was the only MLB free agent the Cards signed this offseason, otherwise sitting the market out.
