Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 29, 2025 Posted May 29, 2025 ... was the nadir of the 2024 season. At the end of the May 29th game, a 10-3 loss to the Dodgers to complete a three-game sweep in which the Mets were out-scored 18-5, the Mets dropped their record to 22-33 leaving them in 4th place a full 16 games out of 1stLindor on May 29: .211/.279/.372; Alonso: .231/.308/.453; Nimmo: .214/.355/.380Want to hear the run-up of games to May 29th? ... Sure you do- May 22: Mets lead Cleveland 2-0 but then give up 3 in the 6th, 1 in the 7th, 2 in the 8th- May 24: Mets lead Giants 6 - 2 then give up 5 in the 8th plus 1 in the 9th- May 25: Mets lead 2 - 1, Giants tie it in top 9 then score 5 in the 10th- May 26: Mets score 3 in the 9th to win!!!!- May 27: Rainout- May 28 (G1): Mets lead 2 - 0, Dodgers score 1 in the 8th, 1 in the 9th, 3 in the 10th- May 28 (G2): LAD 3 - 0, Dodgers 3 runs, Mets 3 hits- May 29: Mets score 3 in the 6th to tie it, but the Dodgers answer with 6 in the 8th and 1 in the 9thThe comeback is usually timed from June 1st on but they actually won their final two games in May to get things rolling and 'improve' their May record to 9 - 19 Then, I don't want to spoil anything for those not paying attention, but it got better after that.June: 16 - 8July: 17 - 10Aug: 15 - 13Sep: 17 - 9A stretch which included the double west coast road swing in August and then a Sept/Oct run consisting (consecutively) of: PHI (x4), ATL (x1), MIL (x3), ATL (x2), MIL (x3), PHI (x5), LAD (x6)So maybe losing the finale of a three game set to the ChiSox isn't the end of the world after all.

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 30, 2025 Author Posted May 30, 2025 (edited) Yup. 5/29/24 was the Jorge Lopez glove toss game, his final one as a Met, and his post-game 'worst organization in baseball' comment. He was officially released in early June. Edited May 30, 2025 by Guest
The Hot Corner Old-Timey Member Posted May 30, 2025 Posted May 30, 2025 Glad the Mets tossed him. I wonder how he enjoyed watching "the worst organization in baseball" advance to the the NLCS while he was sitting on his couch. Enjoy your time in Washington (at least until he is traded). He must live out of a suitcase, he has played for 8 organizations in 8 years.
