Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 25, 2025 Posted May 25, 2025 So Friday's game was the 26th time since the introduction of this abomination (now covering four full seasons plus two partial ones) that a game has gone at least 13 innings.Of the 52 teams who participated in one of those the Mets were the 6th team that failed to score even a single run in the 10th, 11th, 12th, and 13th innings despite starting each inning with a runner on 2nd base.- on 6/10/22 the Cubs got no hits, 2 walks (1 intentional), hit into two GiDPs, and never hit a ball out of the IF before the Yanx scored in bottom 13th- 8/9/22, two months later it was the Yanquis turn for ineptness: no hits, two DPs, one CS, and no balls out of the IF. Luis Torrens then singled in a run with one out in the bottom of the 13th for the only run of a 1-0 Mariner win.- 5/18/24 Angels @ Texas: LAA got no hits, 1 walk, 1 DP until the Rangers won on a bases-loaded HBP in B-13th (Hey, that's supposed to be our move!)- 8/25/21; this is the really cool one: Dodgers and Padres BOTH failed to score in the 10th, 11th, 12th, 13th and 14th innings. They then each notched two runs in the 15th before the Dodgers got a 2R 'leadoff HR' in top 16th and the Pads went meekly 1-2-3 in B-16. It's the only game since the introduction of this rule to reach the 16th inning.Time of Game: 5:49And so Friday was the 5th game where it happened and the Mets the 6th team to "accomplish" that feat. They got four walks (3 IW) and a HBP but not a single hit, and also twice installed pinch runners as their Manfred Man who wound up being three of the four Ghost runners but to no avail.10th (Acuna at 2nd): K, HBP, GO, FO (can't even get our outs in the correct order). Runners left: 2nd & 3rd11th (Azocar): LO, IW, K, BB, GO. Runners left: Loaded12th (Acuna): IW, Bunt, IW, GiDP. Runners left: Loaded13th (Torrens): FO, GO, LO. Runner left at 2nd
