Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted March 27, 2025 Posted March 27, 2025 NYY Catcher Austin Wells, and his (two year) career .312 OBP becomes the first Yanqui catcher to bat leadoff in their history ... and he promptly HR'd 1 - 0 top 2nd
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted March 27, 2025 Author Posted March 27, 2025 New Yanqui closer Devin Williams, whom you may remember from the 'Pete Alonso Ends the Brewer's Season' episode of our program, comes in to a 3-run 9th inning lead and promptly goes: Single; Double; Walk, Sac Fly to his first four hitters.- Now an SB puts the tying run in scoring position for the top of the order. - But Chourios K's and it's up to Yelich. Williams at 30 pitches. - And Yelich Ks on a 3-2 pitch ... and there was no rejoicing.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted March 27, 2025 Author Posted March 27, 2025 Phormer Philly Phriend Héctor Neris starts off his Atlanta career with a game-tying HR to start the 7th followed by Single - Single (and then was pulled)Well, at least he didn't walk anyone.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted March 27, 2025 Author Posted March 27, 2025 Did you just go and add missing accents to my post?!?All of Neris's runs scored so the Braves are now batting in the top of the 9th down 7-4In D of C, the Phils scored twice in top 10, which is come-back-able with the ghost runner rules, but then budding star Dylan Crews dropped a catchable ball in the RF corner with two on and two outs so the Phils will instead take a four run lead into bottom 10.I'm not optimistic 'bout a comeback there.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted March 27, 2025 Author Posted March 27, 2025 Phiis win without 10th inning dramaBraves get two on w/one out giving first Ozuna then Albies shots at a tying 3R HR but K - GO and the Padres take it 7 - 4Other winners so far: MIA over PITWhite Sox already better than last year, Angels not so muchSFG over RedsCLE over KCRBOS over TEXBAL crushes TOR 12 - 2
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted March 29, 2025 Posted March 29, 2025 MFY's start off the game with four, count 'em FOUR, solo HR in the first inning in support of Max Fried. The score is now 4-3.Later
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted March 29, 2025 Author Posted March 29, 2025 The first three HRs had to be solo HRs because they came on the first three pitches of the game (well, first three in bottom 1 anyway).Judge has three HRs himself including a GSBottom 7 now and it's [CROSSOUT]18 - 6[/CROSSOUT] 20 - 6 now after their ninth HR of the game. This will be five straight losses for the Brewers to teams with NY on their unis.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted March 29, 2025 Author Posted March 29, 2025 Yans, and Judge, up in bottom 8th.Judge going for a record-tying 4th HR, and Yanx going for record-tying 10th team HR in a game ... against a position player! But Judge = F-7
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted March 29, 2025 Author Posted March 29, 2025 20-9 is the final.Former yank Nestor Cortes was the starting pitcher/victim: 2 IP, 8 ER, 6 H, 5 BB, 5 HRI bet Brewer fans are loving that Devin Williams trade right about now; Cortes was the party of the other part in that deal.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted March 30, 2025 Posted March 30, 2025 And they've scored [CROSSOUT]9 [/CROSSOUT] 12 runs so far today on 4 more homers.(7th inning)As someone (I think Jim Brosnan) wrote, "They should drop a bomb on second base and blow the fences back to where they belong".That Brewer pitching is terrible. The Mets might be able to score [CROSSOUT]three[/CROSSOUT] two runs off them.Later
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted March 30, 2025 Author Posted March 30, 2025 The Marlins, our upcoming opponent, move to 3-1 on the season by winning today vs PittsburghAll four were one-run games, and all three Miami wins have come via walk-offs.Today's bottom 9th: Infield dribbler, SB + E-2, WP ... thank you and please arrive home safely. The inning took about five pitches and the only time the ball even made it past the pitcher's mound was when the Pirate catcher threw it into CF.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted April 1, 2025 Posted April 1, 2025 In two games, ex-Mets farmhand Jake Mangum (now with the Tampa Rays) has gone 4-7 with a double and 2 RBI and 2 SB.He became just the second player since 1912 to achieve such a feat — four hits and two stolen bases in one of his first two games. The only other player to reach this landmark? Casey Stengel.Later
