Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted March 6, 2025 Posted March 6, 2025 An interesting article from ESPN's Jeff Passan. Many articles from ESPN seem to be behind paywalls, but this one isn't:https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/44096180/mlb-2025-spring-training-oakland-athletics-tampa-bay-rays-minor-league-ballparks-sacramentoWhat A's, Rays moving to minor league ballparks means for MLBhttps://a.espncdn.com/combiner/i?img=%2Fphoto%2F2025%2F0305%2Fr1459803_1296x729_16%2D9.jpg&w=920&h=518&scale=crop&cquality=80&location=origin&format=jpg>
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted March 6, 2025 Posted March 6, 2025 Interesting read, doesn't make good reading for The Rays , and hardly makes sense for expansion going forward
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted March 6, 2025 Author Posted March 6, 2025 It seems unlikely that the White Sox or Royals would move, but who knows? The White Sox may prefer to have Nashville (for example) to themselves instead of sharing Chicago with the Cubs. But Manfred has been saying all along that expansion would have to wait until the Rays and A's have their stadium issues settled. The A's are on their way (it appears) but the Rays are in a messy situation.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted March 6, 2025 Posted March 6, 2025 I wish the A's and Rays were in different leagues, so I could root for an all-minor-league-ballpark World Series.
