Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted February 12, 2025 Posted February 12, 2025 Anthony Rendon, who has missed 68.3% of LAA games since signing his mega-contract prior to the 2020 season*, recently had a setback in his rehaband will now need hip surgery which will sideline him for a "significant" stretch in 20205 according to GM Perry Minasian. He has two HRs in his last 421 PAs and his contract runs through 2026 at $38 mil/yrI think we have a solid entry here for the worst contract EVER!* that's 257 games played over five seasons (one being the Covid year) for those of you scoring at home (or even if you're alone)His high for games played in one season with the Angels is 58 games/249 PA back in 2021

He made 8 starts (which mostly went quite poorly).
The Hot Corner Old-Timey Member Posted February 12, 2025 Posted February 12, 2025 He really cashed in on his success with the Nationals. When the Angels signed him to the megadeal he was expected to form a lethal heart of the line up with Mike Trout, Shohei Ohtani and Rendon. Due to injuries to both Rendon and Trout, it never truly came to fruition. Now his contract (like that of Albert Pujols' before him) has become an albatross for the Angels organization.
