Edgy MD Site Manager Posted December 19, 2024 Posted December 19, 2024 That's Alex Reyes, once one of the top young pitchers in baseball, with a Ryan-esque profile of 100-mile-per-hour heat and a 12-to-6 curveball dropping off the table, eye-popping strikeout rates, along with antacid-popping walk rates. He's been sidelined and sidelined and sidelined in recent years by UCL surgery, shoulder surgery, lat surgery, and I imagine dental surgery as well.Reyes is a native of Elizabeth, NJ, but smartly became an MLB draft dodger, moving to the Dominican Republic as a teenager in order to sign as a free agent. I encourage any and all amateur players to do likewise. Now at 30 and three years removed from his last professional pitch, he's about as wild as a wildcard gets.https://www.nj.com/resizer/v2/HMSYAI7Z3NHZNHQWLMZT7EYPDQ.jpg?auth=0279aa88f0780f816f9a489ab19cdec3d142d9d0b9f5db7d0ed918dfae9486ea&width=500&quality=90>ON EDIT: Manny Gómez of NJ Advanced Media sez https://www.nj.com/mets/2024/12/report-of-mets-signing-ex-top-prospect-is-false-team-interested-and-wanted-him-last-season.htmlthis is all a crock, and no deal has been agreed upon.So hostile, Manny! I guess ... stand by for further updates!

ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted December 20, 2024 Posted December 20, 2024 Another David Stearns special. Reyes was very top shelf at one time. Maybe he can get healthy at Syracuse
