Some Yankees and Mets have traditionally shared their digs, particularly if they're bachelors, because the teams are typically never in town at the same time. If the place you yours for only half the time, half the year, and you want a swanky place in New York befitting your status as a Major League player, you might as well, split the freight with some guy you're never gonna see. Maybe he's somebody you came up with and you trust around your stuff while you're out of town. Maybe you share an agent. It may be unseemly to some passionate fans, but it happens.

But what happens during these intra-city matchups? Does the player from the home team get the master bedroom and the visitor get the sofa? Does somebody stay in a hotel?

Anyhow, the Mets face the Yankees' star righthander Gerrit Cole. Cole is making just his second start of the season, having gone four innings and 62 pitches against Baltimore back on June 19. Look for him to get 20 more pitches or so this time out. Hopefully the Mets can make that 80 pitches of hard work.

It would have been a nice storyline if Kodai Senga had come back on the same schedule and he and Cole matched up, but that's not the way chips have fallen. The Mets defend with David Peterson, still on the comeback from injury himself.

The Mets look like they'll be entering the series down a star reliever, along with his roster spot.

I wonder if there is still apartment sharing as such. I mean, even players

that kinda suck are millionaires nowadays. And if I was a Met, I'd let homeless

person stay at my apartment before a Yankee. But that's just me...

As of Monday, I think we can anticipate a RP (Sulser?) for Megill as the Mets have another day off on Thursday so Megill's services won't be needed for a few days (if at all).

We should hear about Marte's status so there might be a new OFer on the roster.

Tuesday Night Mets Club in a controversial decision opted to skip this one, learning through experience that MFY games are an affront to the vibes of TNM. Tickets instead acquired for Friday night

Eh, bases-loaded, none out, failing to score ... I've seen that from NYC baseball clubs often.

But while I can't quite put my finger on it, there was something different about this one.

They put one of yours in the hospital, you put one of theirs in the morgue.

They lead off with a single, you lead off with a double.
