Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted April 13, 2024 Posted April 13, 2024 The return to afternoon baseball for early season Saturdays in Queens brings us RH Alec Marsh vs LH Sean Manaea at 1:40 EDTMarsh, 26 and in his second ML season, was a 2019 2nd round (44th overall) out of Arizona StHis 17 Games/8 starts in his rookie season led to no great distinction [3-9; 5.69 ERA; 1.56 WHIP] but, like a lot of his teammates, he's improved on things so far this year [3.09 / 1.03] first in a 7 IP 1R/2H game vs BAL, he then went 3R/8H in 4.2 vs CHWAs the only KCR pitcher yet to make his 3rd start I guess they consider him their 5th starter. Must be nice to live in a world where your team goes three whole times through the rotation without having to resort to back-ups and call-ups.I'l be watching assuming my cable/streaming services don't go out again just before game time as they did last night.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 13, 2024 Posted April 13, 2024 Benchin a hot Baderbat as Nimmstone gets only his second start of the season in center.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 13, 2024 Posted April 13, 2024 The Royals presumably have the biggest name-on-back lettering in the league, and it still looks small.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 13, 2024 Posted April 13, 2024 Bunting, deployed correctly, is a great weapon.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 13, 2024 Posted April 13, 2024 Baty is the keystone of this lineup suddenly.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 13, 2024 Posted April 13, 2024 And DJ Stewart is the pignole in my pesto.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted April 13, 2024 Author Posted April 13, 2024 A lot of pitches thrown for just 1-1/2 innings.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted April 13, 2024 Posted April 13, 2024 The Royals remind me of that 2015 team that frustrated you by putting the ball in play. Later
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 13, 2024 Posted April 13, 2024 Both these teams are going at this like a World Series game. It's the game they didn't have in their actual World Series.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted April 13, 2024 Author Posted April 13, 2024 134 pitches combined thru three innings.A couple ticks past one hour to play. How long would three innings like those have taken prior to the speed up rules?
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 13, 2024 Posted April 13, 2024 Ooh, Nimmo just defended a double into a homer. Please move that railing back, Mets.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted April 13, 2024 Posted April 13, 2024 Richie Sexon is who Keith is thinking about
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 13, 2024 Posted April 13, 2024 The best guess I have on the Milwaukee leftfielder Keith was trying to come up with is Rob Deer.

MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted April 13, 2024 Posted April 13, 2024 One day, Francisco Alvarez will be like Salvador Perez.Later
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted April 13, 2024 Author Posted April 13, 2024 What a difference a couple of days make.Last week I'd be looking at a one run deficit and thinking 'insurmountable'. Today I'm thinking, 'eh, it's only four runs'.

Chad ochoseis Old-Timey Member Posted April 13, 2024 Posted April 13, 2024 This feels like a close 9-4 game.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 13, 2024 Posted April 13, 2024 Nimmo didn't make a second homer out of that.Had a chance to, though.
