Chiti in the Bullpen

The Mets new bullpen coach. He's worked for Buck before and is someone for Buck to swap stories with over a swig. (He's my age, I thought he was 10 years older.) Click on the last link. He'll be the first one out of the bullpen during a fight.

Looking over a list of those suspended from the Angels-Mariners brawl, I saw Dom Chiti, assistant pitching coach for the Angels, got five games. He is the son of 1962 Met Harry Chiti, who, as legends frames it, was traded for himself. Dom Chiti has been a coach and front office guy for many years (he was on Buck's staff in Baltimore) but had escaped my notice until tonight.

Dom is a legend for that year he had the Knights buried in last place at mid-season, turned around the season after adding a mysterious slugger they found in the bush leagues, and ended up winning the pennant in the last turn at-bat.
