Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2022 Author Posted August 2, 2022 Austin Riley -- .423. BA / 11 HRs / 25 RBI / 1344 OPSandAaron Judge -- .333 / 13 / 32 / 1253are your NL and AL Players of the Month for July .Not sure if there was even a second place finisher on either side.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2022 Author Posted August 2, 2022 Braves up 8-1 in the 5th and threatening for more.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted August 3, 2022 Posted August 3, 2022 Seattle up 6-0 against the MFYs in the Bronx. They've hit three Home runs off Gerrit Cole, including one by Jarred Kelenic. Of course, since it was in a minor league sized ballpark, I'm not sure if it counted.Later
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted August 3, 2022 Posted August 3, 2022 Braves up 1-sniffle through six against Zack and his Phils.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 3, 2022 Author Posted August 3, 2022 Braves still up 1-0 in top 8th when they appeared to get out of the inning with a 5-4-3 GIDP with Philly runners on 1st & 3rd.But replay showed that Realmuto beat the rap at 1st so no DP and the game was tied. Nick Castellanos then followed with a 2R HRSo 3-1, bottom 8
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 3, 2022 Author Posted August 3, 2022 Newly acquired David Robertson in to close for the Phils:- Austin Riley, K- Eddie Rosario, K- Marcel Ozuna, Foul pop-out3 - 1 Phillies is your final

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 3, 2022 Author Posted August 3, 2022 Mariners prevail 7 - 3 to take the series 2 games to 1, which was nice particularly after smelling out the joint in Game 1 Monday night. The Yanx, who are now a sub-.500 since July 1st (14 - 15), take off on a nine game road trip starting on Friday where both the travel and the teams will give them a bit of a challenge: three games each in StL - SEA - [day off] - BOS

kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted August 4, 2022 Posted August 4, 2022 J D Davis took Kershaw deep today. Opposite field I believe, didn't make The Cove.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 5, 2022 Author Posted August 5, 2022 Various bits of tid from yester-day/night- Noah Syndergaaard went all the way for the W in his first game as a Philly ... sort of.The game was called after five by rain so his less-than-good 'complete game' line of 5 IP, 4 ER, 11 Hits, 0 BB, 3 K was good enough.Phils stay 10 back - Brewers lost for the third straight time to the Pirates (by 2, 1, and 1 run, twice by walk-off, the last one in 10 innings) That couldn't have been easy for Brews fans to swallowThe Cards, meanwhile, took a day/night pair off the Cubbies so StL & MIL are now in a dead heat atop the NLC- The Angels hit 7 HRs in a home game vs Oakland ... and lost 8-7. That's right, seven solo HRs (on 9 hits)Shohei Ohtani, hitting but not pitching, hit two of them- As mentioned up the thread, JD Davis HR'd off Kershaw. Not mentioned was that Kershaw was later removed with a back issue. Those haven't gone well for him or the Dodgers over the years. Dodgers won 5-3The 107 win Giants of last year are on pace for 78 wins this season. the 106 win LAD of '21 are on pace to win 111If those paces hold up the Giants go from +1 over their rivals to -33. That's hard to do in one year.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 5, 2022 Posted August 5, 2022 It's good that Noah Syndergaard has a brand and a look. I wonder how long it's going to mask that he's not pitching very well.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 5, 2022 Author Posted August 5, 2022 For the Angels it lasted 15 starts.
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted August 5, 2022 Posted August 5, 2022 Vin Scully just did Take Me Out to the Ballgame on the big screen at Wrigley.Got a little choked up, I'm such a mush face sometimes....
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 5, 2022 Author Posted August 5, 2022 The new look Padres, though still without baby Tatis, get their first big test with a three game set in L.A.They're 12.5 G behind the Dodgers so are unlikely to catch them no matter what happens, but it's probably important for their psyche and getting thumped will start to put their WC status in doubt - right now +2.5
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 5, 2022 Posted August 5, 2022 The real power shift is St. Louis catching Milwaukee-talkie in the Central.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 6, 2022 Author Posted August 6, 2022 Yanx lose 1-0 to a combined two-hitter by recently traded LHP Jordan Montgomery (and his new StL friends).Meanwhile, the return for Montgomery, Harrison (Master) Bader, remains on the IL.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 7, 2022 Author Posted August 7, 2022 I've had the ESPN game on (in the background, sound off) for about a half hour now ... and I don't think they've had the game in a full screen for morethan a few minutes, like maybe five, the entire time. SNB has become three-plus hours of ESPN being ESPN with a baseball game occasionally interrupting.Oooh look, a full screen!! I just saw a pop-out.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted August 7, 2022 Posted August 7, 2022 The Cardinals complete their sweep of the MFYs with today's 12-9 victory.Adam f'n Wainwright started, gave up six runs, and did not get the decision.Later
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 8, 2022 Author Posted August 8, 2022 Safe to say that we can pronounce the new-look Padres shot at elevating themselves to an LAD rival was an epic fail. Not just getting swept in the three game series but out-scored 20-4 in the process.
