Packy Naughton, the most Bostonian pitcher in history, on to save it for St. Louis.

William Contreras uses Edwin Diaz' record for his entrance music. He rightly and deservedly grounds out without advancing the tying runner.

Nice recap, and nice of StL to do that for us. I was going to switch over to that game but crashed instead.

Not often that the visiting team can score just one run in consecutive extra innings during (hopefully the final year of) the

ghost runner era and wind up coming away with a victory, particularly against the Braves who lately have been filling in

holes in the roster by calling peanut vendors turned All-Stars out of the stands. Spenser Strider is their newest insta-hero

recording 102 Ks in 65 innings across eight starts plus some bullpen work. Last night he K'd 12 in 6 innings.

Atlanta fans -- young, old, male, female -- have taken to wearing replicas of his mustache in the stands on his game days.

That was last night.

It was weird in that he was walking off on his own power before suddenly passing out as he was reaching the IF dirt.

Yanx score twice in top 10 via the clown car rules.

But the Sawx cone back with three in bottom 10 to walk it off. A key hit , and the eventual winning run, were made by Jeter Downs, a recent BoSox draft pick named for, yes, him. Downs got his first ML hit and then scored the game-winner on a hit by Alex Verdugo.

Baltimore looking for their eighth straight win, up on the Angels 9-5 with three outs to go at Oriole Park at Camden Yards.

So with a 1st pitch sac bunt, a 2nd pitch GO, and a 5-pitch K, the Nats fail to score the Manfred Man in top 10

Don't think I need to opine how this game is going to end.

Ex-Nat Michael A. Taylor got to pitch last night for the Royals, and after laying the usual position player slop up there, he actually started to let a few rip.

He threw two innings, and once he got three fastballs out of his system in the eighth, he went back to the junk in the ninth and did terrible, so you can skip that, but I got the idea that he still had more in him than the 94 he topped out at.

The Yanx, up 4-0 since about two minutes after tonight's SNB game at Febway began, are now down 11-6 in bottom 7 (3+ hours in). Miguel Castro among those getting their butts kicked.

Sunday Night Baseball is at it's best when (a) the Yankees are playing it, (B) they're losing decisively, © it won't end.

11 - 6 / 3:32 was your final

After the Yanx put up two-spots in the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd innings I figured they were off to the races but, quite obviously, their

all-er-nuthin' offense stalled after that, perhaps unable to figure out whose turn it was to hit the next 2R homer.

Aroldis Chapman is now being used in 6th inning try-and-hold-em scenarios (he didn't) and Miguel Castro got pasted in the 8th: 4 runs (2 ER) didn't

record an out and now sports a 4.00 ERA and a 1.41 WHIP

Matt Carpenter had the 3rd inning 2R HR. He doesn't start everyday, but he's now 22 for 64 as a Yanqui with 13 XBHs, 10 of them HRs

or just shy of half his hits! That translates to a slash line of .344/.477/.859 // 1307 or a 267 OPS+

This after spending his last three seasons in StL (2019-21) whopping his way to a .203/.305/.346 // 671, 82 OPS+ and only his talent for

walks kept it that high. Looked at another way: 22 HRs in 763 ABs for '19-'21 vs 10 in 64 ABs this year for the now 36 y/o

And before we cite the Little League RF fence, five of those ten HRs came on the road.
