G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted October 17, 2021 Posted October 17, 2021 ”Damn, 15 years?”Indeed, it has been that long. Tuesday, Oct. 19 is the 15th anniversary of Chavez tracking Scott Rolen's deep fly ball, leaping with reckless abandon toward the left-field fence, and coming back with a snow-coned home run robbery to keep Game 7 of the 2006 NLCS tied at one run apiece.***“I just kind of grimaced and went, ‘You gotta be s---ting me,'” says Rolen. “I'm not going to lie to you, when the ball left my bat I wasn't seeing a double-play ball.”Nice Endyversary dive (or leap) in the Snoozehttps://www.nydailynews.com/sports/baseball/mets/ny-endy-chavez-catch-anniversary-nlcs-20211016-uwe62vdsobc2xkgherqyhuklai-story.htmlhttps://www.nydailynews.com/sports/baseball/mets/ny-endy-chavez-catch-anniversary-nlcs-20211016-uwe62vdsobc2xkgherqyhuklai-story.html
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted October 17, 2021 Posted October 17, 2021 I've seen the catch less than 10 times. It's great, it's amazin', but I can't separate the catch from the aftermath.
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted October 17, 2021 Posted October 17, 2021 It's the greatest defensive play by any Met, ever, that I have a recollection of watching live as it happened (on TV, but still).
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted October 18, 2021 Posted October 18, 2021 that moment probably rivals Pratt's HR for "top of the heap" moments at a game. I actually didn't hear the call or see it on TV for a long long time. I think the call of the game was part of the loading screen of MLB The Show in 2007, that's probably when I first heard Gary Cohen's call.
