Things are slow, so I'll bite... how does a longer series give the Mets more time?

The Mets have a window of exclusivity with pending free agents that's X number of days after the end of the World Series. (true of everybody) They don't have to make qualifying offers, etc, until then. It gives the Mets more time to have someone in place that would, presumably, have input into those decisions.

If no one is going to do anything until after the series then it doesn't matter

when it ends. It's 3-4 days, so nothing to quibble-and-tits over I guess.

Gary DiSarcina will be the 3B coach of the Nationals next season. He was good at positioning the IFers but not the best at sending runners.

Add another ex-Met to the WSH coaching staff as Ricky Bones leaves the Mets bullpen to become the bullpen coach of WSH. Henry Blanco stays with the organization in another capacity TBD.

Chili Davis has had it with you people.

”That organization needs a big turnaround, they need to clean house,” Davis said. “Some of the people that have been there so long during those dismal years, they need to bring some fresh faces and baseball people in there. To be honest I don't think Zack Scott was a baseball person. He was the head of analytics in Boston. He was an analytical guy. That's where he belonged, in analytics.”

I'd have sour grapes too. A number of players thrived under Davis' watch the last two seasons, but 24 games was still enough to justify firing him. If anything, it set the struggling hitters back even further. And Scott did come across more like a deer in the headlights than a competent GM, so it's not like Davis was making a big stretch there.
