Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted October 1, 2021 Posted October 1, 2021 Red Sox win!Yankees lose!Blue Jays win!Mariners in a scoreless game with the Angels.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 1, 2021 Author Posted October 1, 2021 And things just got a bit more interesting. The Yanx rally in the 9th falls one run shortThe Sox win, the Jays win, and the M's are pending
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 1, 2021 Author Posted October 1, 2021 After giving up two in top 9, the Ysnx came back with two of their own but left the tying and winning runs on base.So tonight's results make this weekend a whole lot more interesting.

bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted October 2, 2021 Posted October 2, 2021 NYY 91-70BOS 91-70TOR 90-71SEA 89-71Seattle plays tonight against LAA. If SEA wins you'll have 4 teams within one game (but if SEA loses they are eliminated).NYY and BOS control "their destiny" but if they are tied BOS is home for the WC game (as noted earlier in the thread).https://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/2021/10/01/mlb-wild-card-tiebreaker-scenarios/https://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/2021/10/01/mlb-wild-card-tiebreaker-scenarios/
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 2, 2021 Author Posted October 2, 2021 And the four-way tie remains a possibility![NYY loses, BOS loses, TOR wins, SEA wins Sat & Sun]
Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted October 2, 2021 Posted October 2, 2021 I'm rooting for the scenario where one team wins the first WC outright (as long as it's not the Yankees) and the other 3 teams tie for the second WC. That scenario looks even more chaotic than the all four teams tie scenario.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted October 2, 2021 Posted October 2, 2021 M's win, tie the Jays at one game behind Red Sox and MFYs.

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 3, 2021 Author Posted October 3, 2021 That's former WFAN'er Dave Sims bringing it on the Seattle broadcast.
Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted October 3, 2021 Posted October 3, 2021 The Blue Jays have the highest run differential by far of the 4 teams and their expected wins should have them challenging the Rays for the divisional title right now, so it's probably wise to fear them.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted October 3, 2021 Posted October 3, 2021 It's also got to be about who has the better pitcher available, I imagine.Or maybe it's about the hassle of going through customs.Or lastly, maybe the Yankees never have to worry about getting up for the Red Sox.

I think that will make a difference that will see Boston ahead in the standings at the end of the season as they now play 6 games against bottom feeders Baltimore and Washington while the Yankees play contenders in Toronto and Tampa Bay.So is it safe to say that we can sum up your faith in Boston as more than a feeling? As clear as the sun in the October sky!
