Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 17, 2021 Posted May 17, 2021 Can I interest you in a ...John Jay, recently DFA'd by the Strangels, who might like to play closer to his namesake college?Cameron Maybin, currently off to a shart of a start in AAA with the Cubs?Delino DeShields DeJunior, still only 28, currently tearing apart AAA pitching with the Rangers Round Rock affilliate?
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted May 17, 2021 Posted May 17, 2021 Baseball-reference doesn't have a John Jay page through the main name entry search!!!The search only comes back Jay Johnstone. The only way to find John Jay's page is to go through the team page, then click on his name.I'll take a pass on all of them as defenders, but at least Maybin can hit (a little).Later
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 17, 2021 Author Posted May 17, 2021 His name above should say "Jon Jay."
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 17, 2021 Posted May 17, 2021 Perhaps bidding against the Mets for one of those, or other, spare OF parts is the Yanquis: Aaron Hicks to the IL yesterday (wrist), Giancarlo Stanton to the IL today (quad)One of their spare parts, Mike Tauchman who, in 2019 was out-OPS'ing Bryce Harper for much of the season (both finished at 127 OPS+) after the Yanx opted not to pursue Harper as a FA the previous winter, was traded three weeks ago after just 14 ABs in a move they'd probably want back right about now. Also, Father Time seems to finally be catching up to Brett Gardner -- 37 y/o with a 38 OPS+ thru 89 PAs -- and mercurial OF prospect Clint Frazier has some pop but is currently hitting .155 and is often a defensive adventure in corner spots much less as a candidate to replace Hicks in CF
