Edgy MD Site Manager Posted November 4, 2020 Posted November 4, 2020 As reported in the https://www.baseballamerica.com/stories/mlb-proposes-converting-new-york-penn-league-to-summer-wood-bat-circuit/Baseball America, MLB is thinking about sending the New York-Penn League the way of the Appy League, and converting the circuit to a college summer wood bat league. I'm not sure why there's supposed to be some kind of demand on this sort of thing. Last I checked, there something like 14 such leagues in operation. There are various levels of play, and various qualities of players invited to those levels, but it's pretty much The Cape Cod League and everybody else.Apparently, MLB owns the league, and so can do what they want, but what we need is more independent pro ball. My title is supposed to be a suggestion that collegians will soon be playing summer ball in Brooklyn, but I'm guessing the Mets and the Yankees will transfer their New York-Penn League affiliates to The Eastern League to become AA clubs.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted November 8, 2020 Author Posted November 8, 2020 Just to clarify, shutting down bush league pro circuits and expanding the summer collegiate wood bat leagues is just one more way for the cartel to make athletes play for nothing.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted November 10, 2020 Posted November 10, 2020 The MFYs have made Somerset, NJ their AA home (they were in Trenton).

seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted November 11, 2020 Posted November 11, 2020 The Twins just severed ties with the Red Wings here in Rochester, one of the longest-running minor league franchises in the country. So fuck the Twins, basically.Big rumor here is that the Nats will come to town and an announcement should come by December 1, but it's all just rumors.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted November 11, 2020 Posted November 11, 2020 Damn, I liked WSH having their AAA team in California. You can get them used to the booing they'll get in Queens.
