I think I'm allowed by contractual agreements to say this once per year.

a) If a catcher moves a ball into the strike zone he's admitting it was a ball.

B) If an ump calls a framed pitch a strike, he's not doing his job, the strike zone is

where the ball crosses the plate.

c) People who buy pitch framing as an art or even worthy grading one catcher over

another's skills of ridiculous attempts at deception continually confounds me.

I'll revisit in 2021.

Now certainly I buy the argument that we should have an electronic strike zone which would render the skill moot.

If Molina turns his hand so that his wrist is within the strike zone whilst the ball is not then it will be called a strike.

If Ramos fails to do this so that his wrist is outside of the strike zone and the ball is slightly within it will not be called a strike.

That's the magic of pitch framing, literally a sleight of hand.

But you're right--a strike is a strike. I think in Boston we saw an ump manage to call a pitch correctly even though the catcher was set up in the opposite direction but that is not always the case.

Overall, MLB umps stink. The whole lot of them could be replaced by 30 random AAA/AA/College umps and the quality of ball and strikes would not change. Robot umps forever!!!
