Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 2, 2020 Posted April 2, 2020 If this season ever gets going, I think some guys are going to be sent to Columbia who thought they'd be going to Binghamton, just because the abbreviated camp meant that the usual level of attrition didn't come to pass (unless your name is Noah Syndergaard). Teams generally keep 25% or more pitchers employed than they need, because they'll need it soon enough. Guys planning on Columbia may get stuck in extended camp.On the other hand, with the abbreviated training, there's every reason to think the first few weeks will be injury-riddled, and things will smooth out.Again, if there is a season.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted April 3, 2020 Author Posted April 3, 2020 That does it for my eight games but here's a "bonus", my day visiting Mets camp, February 20th. I hadn't gone in previous years but I was told that it's worthwhile and it was. You have to get there early, at around 9:30. There were a lot of fans moving around, going from field to field, trying to find the one with the biggest names. As you can see in the pictures, there are alleys set up connecting the fields where fans can get autographs and pictures. I took selfies with 3 Mets--you know who 2 of the 3 are with, the 3rd is Michael Wacha:https://photos.app.goo.gl/PHj438WXQfKoe8aP9https://photos.app.goo.gl/PHj438WXQfKoe8aP9There are two videos in that collection, one of Alonso swinging and missing against Familia and one of deGrom warming up (Paul Sewald was on the other mound and he might as well have been invisible). Being that close to deGrom was thrilling. I also saw Cespedes swing and hit a few BP HRs--it's true!.Visiting camp is low-key fun but it's tiring so bring water as there is very little shade and you are constantly moving. I'd do it again.

bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted April 3, 2020 Author Posted April 3, 2020 I accept! Thank you. They can mail my award to me as I don't want to get near Jeff Wilpon regardless of the status of the virus.
