The soon to be former White House press secretary is not only married to a 2015 Met, she is the niece of the 1977 Expo who intersected with the most surprising of 1977 Mets.

We spoke for an hour and one minute, and the entirety was punctuated by Lenny's contagious laughter. The call was not so much as an interview as it was a conversation between old friends, though he was beyond gracious in answering any questions I had come up with to gather info for this story. As I went back the following day to review the recorded call and document details and quotes, I was impressed by his ability to speak about anything and everything off the cuff with no need for notes or reference other than his razor-sharp memory. I found myself saying “um” and stuttering often when trying to formulate thoughts on the fly by contrast. I had a few pages of notes to ask questions on, including the time in 1977, when he hit a walk-off home run in the 17th inning off Expos' pitcher Will McEnany to end the game and snap a nine game losing streak.
