John Ricco gets a new title and new responsibilities, per a Met press release: Senior Vice President, Senior Strategy Officer, shifting him from baseball ops to business stuff. My father likely would have called this a sinecure.

Ricco, 50, will report to Mets COO Jeff Wilpon on special business and finance projects, including significant construction projects the Mets are planning for their Spring Training facility and other minor league facilities. Ricco will remain a resource and advisor to Mets Executive Vice President, General Manager Brodie Van Wagenen and the rest of the Baseball Department, with continuing responsibilities and oversight of the Baseball Operations budget and Major League payroll.
