Thor defends the East Coast against Pacific interlopers. Mrs. Kelly's boy Casey, who throws with his right hand and arm, toes the rubber for John McGraw's wayward descendants.

Here's an unlikely lineup for your consideration:

Bautista RF
McNeil 2B
Frazier 3B
Conforto LF
Jackson CF
Smith 1B
Plawecki C
Sydnergaaard P
Reinheimer SS

over/under on SFG SB is many

Reinheimer slated to become the 127th shortstop in Mets history.

Interesting, considering the team's revolving door this season, but he'll become only the third Mets shortstop of 2018, following Rosario and Reyes, the two most doggedly healthy Mets.

Man, I hadn't heard the name Casey Kelly in years now.
A former 1st round pick (30th overall) out of a Florida HS way back in 2008, he quickly jumped onto some of the hot prospects list (although not THAT high) and became the guy Red Sox fans absolutely
did not
want to hear uttered in trade talks.
But by the end of 2010 he was dealt to Sandy Eggo with Anthony Rizzo plus two more pieces for Adrian Gonzalez. A-Gone played just a season and a half for Boston.

Kelly, soon to be 29 y/o, has pitched in 22 ML games (10 starts) for his career while not appearing at all in 2013, 2014, or 2017
Tonight is his 4th game, 2nd start, for the Giants this season.

Gooden's September (1985) that GKR are talking about.

9/6 @ LAD -- 9 IP, 0 R, 5 H, 10 K, 0 BB [2-0 NYM Win] 1
9/11 v StL -- 9 IP, 0 R, 5 H, 7 K, 3 BB [0-1 L] 2
9/16 v PHI -- 9 IP, 0 R, 2 H, 11 K, 2 BB [9-0 W]
9/21 v PIT -- 8 IP, 1 R (unearned), 4 H, 4 K, 2 BB [12-1 W]
9/26 @ CHI -- 9 IP, 0 R, 8 H, 7 K, 2 BB [3-0 W]
10/2 @ StL -- 9 IP, 2 R, 9 H, 10 K, 4 BB [5-2 W]

6 starts, 53 innings, 3 runs/2 Earned, 33 Hits, 49 K, 13 BB. Team = 5=1; Gooden = 4-0

1) I was at a wedding that night and went out to my car from time to time in order to catch few innings late at night
2) Cards won on a Cesar Cedeno HR in the 10th off of Orosco. John Tudor pitched all 10 for StL giving up 3 hits

Mickey's over-managing like it's June.

I dunno: Syndy labored thru the 5th & 6th and was over 100 pitches; quick turn-around tomorrow; didn't want Gsellman to go a second inning twice in three days; Lugo threw two frames last night;
Zamora vs the LHB to start the 9th then Seawald against the RH's; Bashlor at the ready
I can't argue too much with that.

This is like the fifth straight series where a sweep was within reach. The last game in which the other team beat them clearly without the Mets helping was the 6-1 loss to Cincinnati.
