Guest cooby Guests Posted August 19, 2018 Posted August 19, 2018 If you are not already watching LLWS, the Mets just landed at Williamsport Airport and will soon board buses to Lamade. Phillies got here just a bit before them
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 19, 2018 Posted August 19, 2018 I find it a bit odd that the Mets both flew from Baltimore to Philly (something like 18 minutes) earlier this week, and then again from Philly to Williamsport today. While 18 minutes is shirley shorter than driving it, once the park to airport and then airport to hotel times are factored in, it hardly seems worth the trouble. Today's trip I suspect has more to do with the ballplayers not wanting to overnight on a Saturday in a town not up to their usual hotel/nightlife standards while bussing AND playing in the same day was considered too much of a burden. And whereas leagues usually have rules against scheduling flights the same day as a game, this was probably waived due to the one-time nature of the destination.
Guest cooby Guests Posted August 19, 2018 Posted August 19, 2018 Well to be fair, there aren’t too many rooms available in the area during these two weeks.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted August 19, 2018 Posted August 19, 2018 Bowman Field will be the 59th ballpark to serve as host of a Mets regular-season game, per UMDB.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted August 19, 2018 Posted August 19, 2018 And... there's one ballpark where they've played post-season but not regular-season games: Memorial Stadium in Baltimore.

Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted August 19, 2018 Posted August 19, 2018 I would have thought so too, but I guess I'm forgetting how that website works!
Guest 41Forever Guests Posted August 19, 2018 Posted August 19, 2018 Love seeing all the photos on social of the Mets hanging around with the Little Leaguers. Looks like they're having some fun.

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 19, 2018 Posted August 19, 2018 This game is for another series win (currently 2-2) and to maintain our .500 or better record since July 1st [9-9 in July, 12-12 in August]
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted August 19, 2018 Posted August 19, 2018 They must have not wanted Vargas to continue embarrassing himself in front of a major league paying crowd.Later
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted August 19, 2018 Posted August 19, 2018 I just heard on the pregame the guys are all getting a 15k bonus for playing this game, which might explain all the happy tweets. also, Dom Smith is back as they get a 26th for this game, may stay on. I guess Reinheimer shouldn't put down a deposit on a apartment.

bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted August 19, 2018 Posted August 19, 2018 Nice to see the Mets lineup announced and the players run to the foul line--it was almost like the post-season.Any chance that Nimmo is back soon?
Guest 41Forever Guests Posted August 19, 2018 Posted August 19, 2018 Love this segment with Conforto and Kingery as kids, showing them swing then morphing into their present-day swings!

Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted August 19, 2018 Posted August 19, 2018 I'd like to observe that the Phillies aren't very good. They are plenty okay but not very good.

Always a good time. Outfield walls usually have local businesses on them of course. My daughter worked in the gift shop one summer.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 19, 2018 Posted August 19, 2018 Mets have six hits in 10 trips to the plate, and three strikeouts. Apart from catching Rosario stealing, the Phils aren't being asked to make a whole lot of outs in the field.
