Could be we've found a winning formula: playing a crappier team than us in an emptier stadium than ours.

If so, let's chase that feeling.

The pitching matchup tonight will model the battles sure to be taking place in schoolyards from New York to Miami all day today.

"I'm gonna be Corey Oswalt! I've pitched decently, if in hard luck!"
"Well, I'm gonna be Dan Straily! My ERA is closer to four than it is to five!"
"We're on pace to finish slightly ahead of your sorry butts!"
"Oh yeah? We project to qualify for a somewhat higher draft pick!"
"Our new GM might position us to contend -- and he could do it with fewer analytics than the contemporary industry standard!"
"We already have a GM! And he just got rid of one of our last recognizable players!"

Ah, kids and the national pastime. Same as it ever was, I'm sure.

It's surprising that FOX hasn't picked up this game as a national showcase. Maybe ESPN could have the Little Leaguers perform G-FAFIF's dialogue.

If the Mets wanted to slip David Wright into a game in Florida where nobody would be watching too closely, this one would have done the trick.

Rosario wasn't even far off second but got caught totally flatfooted on that pickoff.

It's good that he's finally doing some hitting, and now we can go through the baserunning growing pains.

Nimmo draws a walk to load the bases on a 3-2 pitch that was strike 3 to almost exveryone , but the home plate ump.

Frazier cashes in on the beak with a bases clearing double.

Somehow Frazier pierces the shift pulling an outside pitch and it's 3-0.

Miami erupts with LET'S GO METS cheers.

Mets playing like the Marlins leads to two runz.

You've been looking more gelled the last week or so, men. That was real bad.

It occurs to me that if a manager wanted to delay the game for some reason -- allow the reliever to warm up, wait for weather to improve (or NOT improve) -- he could order his pitcher to continually throw
pick-off moves to 1st and then request his 30 seconds (or whatever it is) each time before "deciding" not to challenge.

Great play by Nimmo. Terrific.

If he hadn't dived and tried to play it on the hop, would the ball have gotten past him enough for the run to score?

I think it would have. It was a perfect gapper.
