Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted July 12, 2018 Posted July 12, 2018 Justification appears to be that they are resting him because he’s made strides in his approach and they don’t want him facing Scherzer. Make sense. Oh wait. No it doesn’t. It makes no sense at all.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 12, 2018 Posted July 12, 2018 And Bautista making only his second start at the hot corner as a Met.
Guest d'Kong76 Guests Posted July 12, 2018 Posted July 12, 2018 They're trying to run Jose into the ground so they don't have to DFA him.Makes sense.Oh wait, no it doesn't.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted July 12, 2018 Posted July 12, 2018 Reyes 10-for-29 lifetime vs Scherzer. Anything that might screw up the Nationals ace and make him unable to start the ASG, thus clearing the way for deGrom, is welcome.Sitting a heating Rosario versus a great pitcher may be this year's answer to two years ago not sitting sitting a scalding Conforto versus Bumgarner, and Conforto cooling off that afternoon and for a while thereafter. Still seems weird.
Guest d'Kong76 Guests Posted July 12, 2018 Posted July 12, 2018 With my analytical track record the last couple of years he'll probably bata triple short of the cycle tonight. (if he does that, does it count that I called it?)

HahnSolo Old-Timey Member Posted July 12, 2018 Posted July 12, 2018 Down 2 runs early to Scherzer. Oh boy.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 12, 2018 Posted July 12, 2018 Well, this game was fun while it lasted. The odds of this offense getting three total bases vs Scherzer are low enough so the odds of three runs are virtually infinitesimal.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 12, 2018 Posted July 12, 2018 Thanks to some less than great defense, the Mets already have 3 total bases. But that was a HUGE fucking overturn (if such a thing can exist in a 1st inning) especially for a play which wasn't anything close to fitting the definition of "definitive".
Guest d'Kong76 Guests Posted July 12, 2018 Posted July 12, 2018 Matz' trade value plummeting before our eyes.

Guest d'Kong76 Guests Posted July 13, 2018 Posted July 13, 2018 It's that trading-deadline Yin Yang Thang...
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 13, 2018 Posted July 13, 2018 The call overturned vs the one not overturned. Coin must have come up heads once and tails the other because there was certainly not definitive either time.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 13, 2018 Posted July 13, 2018 Wilmer, don't go after the first pitch after the dude walked two in a row.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 13, 2018 Posted July 13, 2018 Don't bunt, José. Hit and run!Two strikes. Too late.
