He's back, according to MLB At Bat. Let's win this one.

Part of what I like about road trips to Miami is that Mets who are rehabbing in St. Lucie join the team and dress for the game, and it's jarring when the camera catches a guy that's been away so long that you had your doubts he'd ever come back, and if fact hadn't until that moment realized that he hadn't been released already.

"Hey, look, there's our buddy Travis d'Arnaud sitting with his team in the dugout tonight. Travis, Buddy, if you're listening, we're all rooting for you in your recovery from Tommy John surgery. And is that Juan Lagares next to him, Keith? Yes, it is! He's wearing his hair long as he works his way back and we hardly recognized him. He seems to have lost a little of his upper body strength too, but the Mets are trying to get him out there doing what he does as good as anybody, and that's ... oh, hey, is that our old buddy Skip Lockwood?"

The only good thing about Friday's debacle is that the bats were so shitty -- 7 hits (5 singles) plus [u:1uja97sa]NINE[/u:1uja97sa] walks were virtually negated by 3 GiDP plus a pickoff plus 0/6 w/RiSP (10 LOB) -- that it's likely they would have lost even if deGrom had been pitching, so maybe they'll get it right this afternoon (a rare 4:10 start on a Miami Saturday)

When DeGrom starts is obviously when the Mets have their best chance of getting a win. If the offense can only score 2 or 3 runs and the bullpen doesn't somehow cough up the lead once DeGrom leaves the game, then the team has a good shot at a win. It is frustrating how few times the Mets can manage to adequately support one of the best pitchers in the game today.

Nim, Bau and Cab = yawn in the top of the fifth.

Leadoff double from Wilmer -- then the next seven batters after that got only one ball out of the infield: deGrom's short fly to LF

And in the meantime, deGromo es en fuego!

Even when they're going well, our pitchers lately have shown an amazing ability for 'bunching' the hits they do give up.
In this case, after 2 singles and 0 walks thru 5, deGrom goes 4 singles, 1 BB, and 1 HR in the 6th. OK two of those singles were in the infield, but still ...

I hope too much isn't made out of that play that deGrom pulled up on
at the last minute and Flores didn't attack the ball on more for the third
run. It's one of those things, baseball.

Keith was pretty livid.

Keith had a point that the confusion and Flores' uncertainty was primarily due to having people playing out of position. Flores lacks the experience at first base to instinctively know what to do on that play.

Rosario's error ends up costing the Mets 2 unearned runs. Now 5-3 Marlins.

To put it another way: 2 of the first 17 Marlin hitters reached base; 8 of the next 14 did.

I'm just catching up after pausing... if Jose doesn't want to bust it to first
on a ground ball, bust it to your locker and go home. Please.
