The Mets have claimed reliever Chris Beck off of waivers from the Chicago White Sox. After putting up ERAs north of six (SIX!) each of the last two seasons, it would be easy to call the newest Met a loser, and wonder why you don't kill him, but he was pitching wellish, if not well (4.14 ERA) so far this season.
