Guest cooby Guests Posted May 15, 2018 Posted May 15, 2018 I happen to agree with batmags about the folly of resigning Wright to a contract when he may have already had some back issuesBut being a truly ‘outside the loop’ fan these days , (Mets imposed) I ask you, as a collective baseball fan base, for truly star worthy third base replacements. And then, I ask for the same caliber of every other position. As a fantasy player, I am not seeing it. I think the baseball gene pool is bereft. Agree or disagree as you see fit
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 15, 2018 Posted May 15, 2018 The best thirdbaseman right now for my money is Nolan Arrenado. His numbers may be Coors-inflated, but he's finished eighth, fifth, and fourth in MVP voting the last three years, actually performing better each of those years, and is doing better still this year. Plus he's unquestionably the standard-bearer with the glove, whatever that's worth in an era where folks increasingly strike out, or homer, or walk.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted May 16, 2018 Posted May 16, 2018 Arenado is arguably the second-best position player in the league. So, yeah, he'll work at third. Machado would almost certainly work there, too.I'm not sure with what we're supposed to be agreeing or disagreeing. Is the premise that there are no, um, good/great players? If this is the case, well... I'll politely point out that you're forgetting a guy who's about 6 seasons in to what may be the best baseball career ever. Like, in history. And even if you leave him off your list... you've got Machados and Harpers and Bettses and Altuves and Correas and Bryants and Goldschmidts and Lindors all OVER the damn place. Kershaws and Klubers and Saleses and Scherzers and Thors, too. And Ohtanis! Oh, the Ohtanis! And reanimated Verlanders! And Bartolo!I mean, you can say you don't see the cool shit... but you'd have to be pretty willfully looking past some pretty obviously cool shit.
