BoSox had their traditional Patriots Day game rained out this morning.
And for the second day in a row -- should have been three according to Joe Maddon despite their ridiculous comeback with vs Braves on Saturday -- the Cubs have been weathered-out at Wrigley.

That makes it eight cancelations out of a possible 20 non-dome games over two days -- six on Sunday plus several others delayed, and two so far today -- with the possibility of that number rising by the time we
put Monday's sked to bed as non-dome sites tonight include the Bronx, Queens, and Pittsburgh (plus Atlanta, Oakland, and SD)

I can hardly believe it but it cleared up here in NYC. Breezy and sunny after this morning's heavy heavy heavy heavy rains

Postponed again at Wrigley this afternoon.
Sunday + Monday + Tuesday + Wednesday = 1 game played for them. And, by their own admission they shouldn't have played Saturday while on Tuesday they slogged through while it was 35 and windy
But no worries, only one more home game for them on Thursday (maybe) then it's off to tropical Denver.

Pirates win again this afternoon (10-2 over Rox) to go to 12-6. And this was the team who dealt away Cole & McCutcheon in the off-season.

I'm watching last night's Twins-Indians game, which was played in San Juan. It's the top of the 14th, and still 0-0. I don't know how it ends. I have to shut it off to host my block club meeting, and I'm really hoping that when my neighbors show up, they're not talking about the ballgame.

Scherzer vs Kershaw out in LA tonight -- although the two clubs with NL-best records last season are under .500 so far this year.

Oakland lefthander Sean Manaea just completed a no-hitter ... against the BoSox of all teams who I believe came into tonight averaging 17 runs scored per game this season.
He walked two - or seven fewer than the NYM pen did tonight.

So what's less likely, Bartolo hitting a HR or out-racing Dee Gordon to 1st base?

And his momentum only took him about 3/4 of the way to the foul pole before he finally could stop.

Making just his 2nd ML start (he won his debut) LAA pitcher Jamie Garcia lasted only 2+ innings today vs the Giants.
A large reason for the early hook was that it took him 49 pitches to get through the 1st despite not giving up any runs in that frame, and the main reason it took him 49 pitches was
the 21 pitches it took him to retire SFG's #2 hitter Brandon Belt in a 12-1/2 minute long AB. Belt fouled off 16 straight full count pitches before flying out to RF.
It is believed to be the most pitches ever in a single at-bat.

Belt was later to HR on merely the 8th pitch of his 5th inning AB although Garcia was long gone by that point.
