EXPECTATIONS for 18: Anthony Swarzak

So, yeah, whatever you think my year might look like might possibly have something to do with the news you hear in the next few hours.

But come on? No opinions on Drew Smith? None on Brian Chicklo? Hang in there, people of New York. Almost done.

Meanwhilst, I'm a late-career bloomer who was the Mets first free agent signee this offseason, and so folks associate me with their frustrations. But I look to be part of the late-inning picture and take some of the heat off of Familia and co. Bad choice? Well, Sandy has had a handful of contracts handed to relievers go south, but I'm real durable.

At least I was, until yesterday. Where do we go from here?

Expectations were high for a few minutes there during his '18 debut. He was great.

Swarzie made his debut today with the 51s, pitching one shutout inning, allowing one hit (a leadoff bunt single toward out-of-position thirdbaseman Patrick Kivlehan), struck out two, and walked off with a win.
