Omar Quintanilla comes to mind. A Tex-Mexer who was last seen playing for Los Toros de Tijuana.Daniel Ray Herrera was a Texican, too, and he had a glorious crown of hair that could put Jake deGrom to shame.
A Boy Named Seo Old-Timey Member Posted January 18, 2018 Author Posted January 18, 2018 Frank Estrada was almost our own Moonlight Graham.1 lone game in his career, September 14th, 1971 against the Expos.Montreal lit up Nolan Ryan and with the game out of hand, Estrada came on to finish up for Jerry Grote, and went a tidy 1-for-2 in his only 2 major league at-bats.Even though the Mets undoubtedly paid a pretty peso to acquire him in the pre-season from the Mexico City Reds in what bb-ref described as an "unknown transaction", the Mets would flip Estrada, Nolan Ryan and some other bums to the Angels for Jim Fregosi, and Estrada would never again sniff the show.Fun Fact! bb-ref career stats show that 23 years after the Mets shipped him to Anaheim in the Ryan trade, Estrada finally played his last game in the Mexican league in 1994 at the tender age of 46! He prob wanted to outlast Nolan Ryan himself who retired after the 93 season!
