  1. Bader reminds me of Mark Canha. He's not great at anything, but you can't really complain about him, either.
  2. Jeff Brigham, who pitched for the Mets in 2023, is 0-1 with a 3.76 ERA and 12.0 K/9 IP rate in 20 relief appearances for the Twins Triple-A club, the St. Paul Saints. Mark Canha, who played for the Mets in 2022 and 2023, is hitting .235 with 7 home runs, 38 RBI and 42 runs in 94 games between the Tigers and Giants. Robinson Cano, who played for the Mets in 2019, 2020 and 2022, is hitting .431/.475/.639 with 14 home runs, 77 RBI and 141 hits in 78 games for the Diablos Rojos Del Mexico of the Mexican League...and he's 41 years old!
  3. If I'm not mistaken, J.D. Martinez reached 6,000 career ABs in this game. A nifty little accomplishment
  4. 1. http://i.imgur.com/3NUWhY3.jpg> Who am I? 2. Holy cow, was this lame Yet another washed up name A guy with good speed and Power with a bat in hand Well, once long, long ago But with the Mets, not quite so He was Philly's big star As a Met, he fell so far Who is he? 3. http://i.imgur.com/rLhF9Ql.jpg> Who is the guy in the front? 4. Who is the guy in the back of the image in question #3? 5. Which player, who briefly played with the Mets in 1979 and 1980, is often credited as the first to use a cupped baseball bat? 5. Diekman has been released. Hartwig sent on a rehab assignment. Garrett sent on a rehab assignment to Binghamton. Mets release Karell Paz. Mets release Miguel Alfonseca.
  6. Megill should've been traded. Blackburn did better than I expected.
  7. On the bright side, Joyce throws 104, which means his career will last about 1.5 years before he blows him arm out and is gone forever.
  8. Gary is constantly misstating the number of strikes and outs. I think he's senile.
  9. Ottavino has a 0 on his uniform because he throws 0 strikes.
  10. Gelbs is actually funny. Gary isn't funny, but he thinks he is. Big difference there, too.
  11. That woman screaming is obnoxious.

  13. This was a well-played game. Makes you think maybe the Mets ARE a playoff-quality team.
  14. Former Met Brandon Drury ain't doing so hot this year.
  15. Gerson Bautista, who pitched for the Mets in 2018, is 4-3 with a 7.39 ERA and a 2.179 WHIP in 39 games for the Conspiradores de Querétaro in the Mexican League. Phil Bickford, who pitched for the Mets in 2023, has a 14.40 ERA in 5 relief appearances for the Yankees. He is 2-4 with a 3.47 ERA in 29 games at Triple-A. Travis Blankenhorn, who played for the Mets in 2021 and 2022, is hitless in 6 at-bats with the Nationals. He is slashing .247/.328/.518 with 24 home runs and 69 RBI at Triple-A.
  16. Roberts and Corey are correct! Answering the unanswered: From the back of a baseball card: "This guy, a 45th round selection in 2001, enjoyed a breakout season with St. Lucie (A), making the '04 Florida State League All-Star Game with a show of power previously unseen from him. The son of former Major League star Brian Harper (who now manages in the Angels system), this guy stays in touch with his father often by phone. This guy credits offseason workouts supervised by his dad for his impressive surge." Hint: He was a decent Mets prospect who never reached the majors. He played in the Mets system until 2007 but never played above Double-A. In 2006, he hit 36 home runs and had 102 RBI between St. Lucie and Binghamton. Brett Harper Let's see if anyone can get this trivia question. When was the first time in major league history that four Asian-born pitchers played consecutively in a game? Since I'm asking it here, it was by the Mets. Who can tell me the year? The pitchers involved? I don't think the answer has changed since this question was first posted. Danny Graves, Jae Seo, Shingo Takatsu, Kaz Ishii; not 100% sure if it was in that order. 2005. I was with the Mets in '96 Not long enough for many tricks Yet another cruddy, short-lived sub Like when I was a Chicago Cub Despite being there 'bout an hour Fans could not deny my great power Of my eight hits, three left the park But I whiffed more than I hit the mark Who am I? 17. This game was so bad that, even though I technically watched it (had it on in the background) I already remember nothing meaningful from it.
  18. Another in a long line of mediocre, short-lived Mets relievers who will be forgotten soon. Was worse last year than I remember, but the bullpen was so bad this year, there were times I wanted him back in the majors. Excellent at Triple-A these past two years.
  19. =batmagadanleadoff post_id=165049 time=1722635053 user_id=68] =Cowtipper post_id=165047 time=1722635026 user_id=166] Further proof that he is perhaps the most underrated of the great Mets pitchers... David Cone
  20. Did Bret Saberhagen do it?

He was the Kreme of the crop!
  22. I think I originally stated, at the beginning of this year, the Mets would go 92-70. I'm slowly reverting back to that prediction.
  23. The more relievers the better, because that starting staff is inconsistent. I guess nobody made an offer for Ottavino. I was hoping to see his name in the "Former Mets in Current Situations" thread. Later None the guys I wanted gone were traded, either :-(.
  24. Brazoban isn't bad. Actually, none of the names are eye-popping, but they acquired enough that they can throw them all at the wall and inevitably one or two will stick.
