  1. I hope as much as the next guy that Zito ends up here....but I'm almost positive I remember, around the winter meetings, the A's saying they won't trade him in the offseason. I'll look for a quote.
  2. Johnny Dickshot wrote: I'm sure that's part of the reason the O's are excited to have him now. Probably. But I'm sure the main contributor to their excitement is that the only major leaguer they had to give up pitched to a 5.86 ERA last year.
  3. Bret Sabermetric wrote: The out-patients are out in force tonight. On the WFAN overnight, Met fans are hysterically denouncing this trade. In a way, it's a challenge trade--it's so godawful on the face of it, Omar is challenging us to a contest of "Who knows baseball, me or you?" which is how the Mets' deals (at least since 7/30/04) have gone: the team pulls off a trade that everyone hates (I keep my hatred, most of you let yours go after a few months), and it never really makes any more sense than that but Omar insists that it's our idea of true value that's off. Did Omar say something to this effect? I haven't been paying attention to the comments coming out of the front office.
  4. Edgy DC wrote: ]Would you have made a trade of Cameron, Seo and Benson for Julio, Sanchez, and Nady??? There are other people involved. Thank you for stating the obvious. Would you agree that these are the principals? Or is it not allowed to mention these trades as a whole without naming each minor leaguer and the exact dollar amounts?
  5. No one is pining for Wigginton. Except maybe Bret? He was recently. I realize we got some value out of Benson. He helped us to a middle of the pack finish and a last place finish.
  6. The Mets traded Wigginton, Peterson and Huber for Jorge Julio.
  7. Recommendation: Do not come home drunk and go to the CPF looking for news when it's possible a stupid trade was made that day. If anyone else wants a piece of Omar I'm beating him down in the Red Light Forum.
  8. I was waiting for convincing evidence that Omar was an idiot. I think I've found it. Look at it this way. Would you have made a trade of Cameron, Seo and Benson for Julio, Sanchez, and Nady??? OF COURSE NOT. SO WHY IS DOING IT SEPERATELY OKAY?!?!? Bret, when does the next bus leave for Boston?
  9. Voting all over the board on this one.
  10. Well that's not much in the way of scientific evidence, that's because Wagner is so much more well known.
  11. Not surprising. Why would Wilpon open up his wallet? He's a cheap scumbag who's only interested in money and doesn't give a shit about the product on the field, or the field itself.
  12. I voted for vacant. A chair should remain vacant unless someone is truly deserving.
  13. So basically what you're saying is, if the Mets win, you might enjoy yourself, and my find yourself rooting for them again. So by extension this seems to be saying, if the Mets win, you could become a fan again.
  14. Not if Franco brings his Mafia buddies.
  15. TORVO is always recruiting new members.
  16. He is a good singles hitter in AAA. I don't see what he has shown to make people think he will be anything more than a backup at the major league level. Maybe the same things people see in Anderson Hernandez? Last year he was the guy everyone wanted to play over Matsui, and his name is conspicuously absent from the 2B debates after only about 20 ML at-bats. I guess we're back to Keppinger in the grass is greener in AAA theories.
  17. Yes, I'm referring to Keppinger v. Matsui.
  18. It'll cost you some wins, but that's about it.
  19. Why not? Forums are for arguing. Producing runs (either RBI or runs) is too dependent on the others on your team. They are not a great indicator of individual performance.
  20. Don't read too much into RBI.
  21. seawolf17 wrote: I would say "fight ham." Otherwise, they'd be the Ham Defenders. I always thought they were made of Ham and were fighting. Hence, Ham Fighters. Like a street fighter doesn't fight a street. He fights in a street. _______________________ This post had the designation 80) Doug Sisk
  22. Wow that mascot really is squeezing her breast, isn't he? Filthy little beast.
  23. 8 and a quarter according to GWreck.
  24. Edgy started it! Edgy started it!
  25. That was a fun game. We should pick it up again on these slow January and February days.
