This is the genus from which the people who claim that it was okay to pass on Guerrero because they were concerned about his back hail from. _____________________ This post had the designation 77) Eddie Murray

  3. We now have a vote for like. What is with you people? If Bret reads this he's going to have a conniption fit.
  4. sharpie wrote: I would hit "hate" only if I "loved" Benson. Which I didn't. He was ok. I liked him more when he was a Pirate but then found myself unimpressed as a Met. Julio I've never seen (that I can remember). I did see Maine while sitting at a bar with a MFY game on. He got shelled but not as shelled by the jokers who followed him. For me, trading a starter for a non-closer reliever is almost an automatic hate. Throw in the fact that the reliever pitched in the high 5's for ERA last year and I don't care if I only like the starter. I hate the trade. You can't get much worse than this trade. It's gawd-awful. So you'd only hate a trade if Pedro was traded for a reliever with an ERA over 5? You need to be more hateful. NOTE: The above is a joke. I in no way wish to influence who sharpie hates.

  6. From a trading perspective: Delgado was part of a fire sale and Wagner was a FA. Some one needs to smack Omar with a two by four.
  7. I'm filled with hate right now.
  8. Maybe I wasn't expecting it since I read yours immediately after reading his. Got me before I had a chance to think. It's still funny.
  9. That's the post of the day right there. Beautiful. And I did not see it coming. (SC = zero) Don't make me laugh out loud at work, dammit.
  10. Bret Sabermetric wrote: It makes my morning, Rot, to see Edgy pulling his passive-aggressive, tone-correcting, schoolmarmish, superior behavior with posters other than myself. Just to stir the pot a little more....I admit to not having read thoroughly lately, but I can't remember Edgy directing a single post at you in at least the past six months. Probably been longer.
  11. If it gets to the point where it's difficult to judge who had a better year, that's when it can be called it a wash. IMO.
  12. Bret Sabermetric wrote: Sorry, I thought "I guarantee you'll get sued for copyright infringement" meant that you were guaranteeing I would get sued for copyright infringement. My bad. Apology accepted.
  13. I realize it wasn't that funny. But I didn't realize people would take it seriously. Come on, is there a more absurd statement that I could've made? I know it's a message board and it's hard to pick it up when a stupid little statement was supposed to be a stupid little joke, but geez.
  14. Come on Bret, did I really need a note saying the copyright infringement thing was a joke? ]Who has copyrighted what, exactly? Kris and Anna have the story about a woman who sleeps with her husband's teammates copyrighted. NOTE: THE ABOVE STATEMENT ABOUT KRISTIN BENSON AND HIS WIFE ANNA IS A JOKE.
  15. duan wrote: how you measure it's important as Seo's in a great pitchers park but my basic instinct is to go Benson, Heillman, Seo. Two votes for this one. Let's add it as a choice to the poll.
  16. cooby wrote: You're really hung up on that whole scenario, aren't you? Que?
  17. Bret Sabermetric wrote: I'm thinking of writing a short story about a baseball wife who vows to screw the whole roster if hubby cheats on her. He does so, thinks she doesn't know about it but she finds out, and she decides to get through the whole team before telling him of what she's done. Story takes place as she's trying to nail (so to speak) those last few faithful (to their own wives) husbands on the team, wearing down their resistance. What do you think of the idea? I've got so many of these, I'm thinking of marketing them as a collection. Prolly should put some effort into getting them published in magazine form first, but it's an interesting idea to me a collection of stories about baseball based on actual incidents or potential incidents in the game's history. I guarantee you'll get sued for copyright infringement. ____________________ This post had the designation 79) Jeromy Burnitz
  18. I see a few people saying things along the lines of "I'm surprised that people are surprised that Omar's making dumb moves" or "I'm suprised that a chunk of Met fans had Omar as their savior, and are shocked when he makes dumb moves." (Note: These quotation marks do not contain actual quotes, but rather paraphrase what I've seen.) Who thought Omar was their savior? Is this referring to Mr. Random Radio Caller? I don't remember who thought of Omar as some sort of God Among GMs, and I don't see anyone around these parts saying "I can't believe Omar is making dumb moves, he was supposed to be our savior". I think the attitude around here all along was wait-and-see. At least it was for me. After last offseason, I was happy with Omar. After this offseason, I am not.
  19. ]according to her, "the sexiest woman in professional sports This stuff cracks me up. I wonder if she'll ever realize that she's not in professional sports.
  20. Seo is not inferior to Benson.
  21. Bret Sabermetric wrote: I think Wade Boggs, was it? really screwed things up for the players by offering to wear the Devil Rays cap (if they paid him a ton of money.) Or was it Dave Winfield? Anyway, one of these multi-team superstars started the bidding on which cap his plaque would publicize, and baseball wisely stepped in before it became an utter freak show, saying "Not your call, asshole. Not any more." I think it was Winfield.
  22. This thread did start because of her, no?
  23. Bret Sabermetric wrote: And the early returns show that Mets fans think the Mets have done well. Thinking that Heilman is the best of the three does not necessarily mean thinking the Mets have done well. You're reading too much into it. The polls on liking the trades are in other threads.
  24. Benson, Heilman, then Seo
  25. I actually hope their is some method to his madness. Right now I think he honestly thinks he's making the team better......which scares me more than anything.
