  1. Of course, I wouldn't have wanted Lugo to do this earlier.

So either you use Familia in a tie game or you resolve not to use him at all. Why can't we use him in the 10th and walk off in our half. Or the 11th? Ain't gonna happen tonight.
  3. Edgy MD wrote: Yes, but we're going in circles here. You wrote I'm just not a fan of using closers in the 9th no matter what. No matter what? I assume you mean you're not a fan of using closers in the 9th unless there is a save to be had. OMG. In a tie game. Frayed Knot wrote: Zvon wrote: If we could get 2 out of Juerys. I'll change that tune. To me if Fammy fails, very bad. Horrible. If he succeeds, after the 9th we are pretty much throwing the game to the wind in Lugo, who is the only RP left. So you'd rather definitely use Lugo in a tie game in the 9th than maybe use Lugo if and when we get to extras? Not buying that logic at all. As soon as it was tied I would have changed my strategy to be prepared for extra innings. And that would change the entire set up. And sure, sometimes you will have to turn to arms that are bottom end. I would hold back the closer as long as I possibly could and try to get him in that position. At a certain point tho even that plan goes down the drain.

I understand that's what they do these days. I don't like the logic. I don't get what you're saying here. It's what they always have done. As long as there is a beast called a "closer." They wouldn't/couldn't be "closers" if they did not pitch the ninth the closing inning. It wasn't the closing inning tonight.
  5. whew. I hate that these Yankee games that don't count for shit mean so much to us.

For me, because you don't lay down your high card until you have the hand under control. (I'm not even sure what I mean by that, lol) Back in the day Tug would go 2. Or 3. Or 6, although I don't expect 6 these days, and didn't then. Yea, I'm an old man and there's a cloud.
  7. WHOA. nice catch Grandy. HUGE dude.

  9. Lugo. Colon. I'm just not a fan of using closers in the 9th no matter what. We could have squeezed more from some of the earlier relievers. No one manages for extras anymore, it seems.

  11. Wow. Hildago. I doubt he has an mfc card. I've lost track. Fman99 wrote: I did not have Richard Hidalgo, you could have given me 50 guesses and I would not have come up with that. 10,000 for me. I remember the guy too, and I have his rookie cards put aside from years ago, so I thought well of him.
  12. Justin Ruggiano : mild hamstring strain. If anyone's interested.
  13. Crapiola. Damn, he wore Reed out. And Reed did try to hum one outside. Damn. 5-5 Mets.
  14. I wanted the Bastardo I saw on the Phils when he was pretty damn good (yrs ago). We got Bubblebutt.
  15. I have to go a couple of years back for his fantasy card. As far as I can see, his only one. I didn't see all that much but I liked everything I saw with this guy. The story was that he wasn't ready yet. I didn't buy that story.
  16. lil 'd's learning but they still take the base on him.
  17. Fkn' Gardner going 1st to 3rd. All those guys on that side and he goes 1st to 3rd. Come on Reed. Shut the door.
  18. Verizon trivia question: Who has the Mets all-time record for home runs against the Yankees. I'm going with Beltran. I'll guess Wright May as well go w/Reyes. OE: That's an oldie.
  19. That Blevins curve ball to Ellsbury was worthy of the curveball thread.
  20. Ha! Found this on twitter.
  21. Holy shit. Just seeing this now. Gotta E my bros.

It's like we're in the second half of the Cashen regime except we never got our championship. I got the feeling they were more down on Reynolds. I was thinking of Dilson at 2nd and Rosario at short a few years down the line, so I can't lump them together as interchangeable pieces. Wow, what a deadline day. It's nice when the Mets matter.
