  1. He walks Tatis, and bases loaded for lefty Schneider. No one warming up for Philly. Schneid lifts an infield pop out. If Pedro reaches Ill have to laugh.
  2. Swindle trying to rob back some of his cahnfidence as he Ks lefty Delgado on three pitches.
  3. Tick, tack, toe, three hits in a row! Not a good move Charlie. Shudda saved him till the lefties were up if thats what he's there for.
  4. Nice to meet ya Swindle. Happy birthday
  5. OO, the rook gets the mound. Swindle in. Its his MLB debut AND his birthday. Gratz R.J.
  6. To answer my own question, Ill take Pedro on an inning by inning basis unless he gets in real bad trouble. Limit him to 120 pitches, but I'm old school, doubt they let him stay in that long. He's currently in the low 90's. Phils broadcasters over the first few innings have built a pedestal of praise in regards to Martinez's career and his chances of making the Hall Of Fame. Very respectful. This Utley at bat is most important. HE RINGS HIM UP!
  7. ="TransMonk"]="soupcan"]'the skin of the infield' Sounds like a line from an upcoming Madonna song.
  8. soupcan wrote: On the radio earlier, Hagen (Hagin?) was talking about Rollins playing deep on the outfield grass and as he moved in - to the dirt I'm sure - he said that Rollins was now on 'the skin of the infield'. I've never heard that term. I like it though. Anybody? I never have. I like that. I like any new terms, words, and phrases applied to baseball that paint an accurate picture of the action.
  9. Pedro tonight has been both awsum and erratic. At times: great control, hitting spots to perfection. At other times: looking like bad-Ollie. Only two hits and 3 walks for Philly, but if your watching you know what I'm saying. He threw a lot of pitches that inning, but gets out of it with minimal damage. Nice K on Coste to end it. How long does Pedro go?
  10. Utley smacks HR # 25. Can't let these guys get back into this. It's only the 4th and the Phightin's can explode offensively. Chase supposed to be involved in the All Star Home Run Derby. He has this little snappy swing, all bat speed. Not really a HR type swing. I can only hope the derby messes up his swing for the rest of the season. (I actually like and respect Mr. Utley very much, and hate to say that ^, but if it helps the Mets make a run for it, tuff Tatis's)
  11. I LOVE how this is going so far 8-0 And thats all for Eaton. Phils phans are boooooooin him so loud you should be able to hear it at home Edgy.
  12. AG/DC wrote: Get home. Change clothes. Get dinner. Check score. 5-0. Drop dinner. Stain carpet/feed dog. 8. Vote for Mr. Wright.
  13. Hope you're all voting for Mr. Wright to make that All Star game, cuz If Burrell gets voted in ahead of him for that last spot I'm gonna hurl.
  14. 5-0 Mets after 1 and a half.
  15. I like how this is going so far. Tatis: infield single Tatis breaks up a possible DP with a nice slide. Two out walk to Reyes Chavez singles in a run. Wright doubles in two! WOOTOOTOOTILYDOO!
  16. Nice first from Pedro. Two ground outs and a foul pop out to Wright. 1-2-3.
  17. Lets Go Pedro!
  18. Wow. Wacky 1st. Reyes steals 2nd...I think..he stumbles and the ball got thru the catcher. He could have had 3rd, but Im just glad he didn't hurt himself. Chavez bunts him over. A perfect bunt that is thrown away and he gets a single. Then Wright hits a hump back liner to Utley that looked like a DP, but Chavez is called safe at second, umps saying Chase missed the tag...Reyes scores. Looks like Chavez was out to me but the other Manuel does not put up much of an argument. Easley drives in Chavez with a single to right!
  19. If your interested in voting David Wright in for the final All-Star Game spot, please vote. http://newyork.mets.mlb.com/index.jsp?c_id=nym
  20. Slight delay as the field needed some extra treatment due to the recent weather woes.
  21. Phils reliever Tom Gordon placed on the 15 day DL with right elbow inflammation following yesterdays game. Pitcher R.J. Swindle will replace Gordon on the roster.
  22. J. Rollins SS S. Victorino CF C. Utley 2B R. Howard 1B P. Burrell LF G. Dobbs 3B J. Werth RF C. Coste C A. Eaton P
  23. I third what your saying Doc. These guys are major leaguers and should be able to pitch in much less limited fashion if needed. I truly don't understand why pitchers can't be used in a more flexible way. If things work out perfectly then okay, they play their limited roles. But this is baseball, and so many times things don't go as planned and you have to have a flexibility and resiliency to deal with what the game dictates. Todays players supposed to be better athletes due to modern training techniques and conditioning than players we saw growing up, so why they can't perform in a like manner is beyond me. Don't tell me because they want to enjoy longer careers or whatever because the pitchers that are fortunate and good enough to last, will last.
