  1. I had read what TC said, but it's not the same as seeing him say it. Because of his tone. I think his response to the media there was perfect. Cudos.
  2. Very nice. When I saw 5 pitches and 3 ground outs in the first I thought KOOL, Niese is on. He really needed the groundball there and he got it. And another to close the frame. Niiiiice.
  3. Lefty Specialist wrote: They should be up about 5-0 in this game, and Niese just had the 'narrow escape' inning which often precedes his 'meltdown' inning. He doesn't look mopey yet, but he does look disinterested. 4 pitch walk to start the 4th. And then a single.

  5. Gwreck wrote: Reviewing replay, it looks like Murphy forgot how many outs there were, as he never ran towards third base and instead just was standing there on the infield. I'm still fuming about this. And I'm a Muffinstuff supporter. Inexcusable. ...he was clapping his hands. ><

Most of the pitchers who did pitch tonight are not even in consideration for the post-season roster. that's fine if there is an October, the Mets might want to stop acting like it is a foregone conclusion that they've made the playoffs. And I think the ESPN booth said tonight that he will have similar restrictions in the postseason. Not that I think they know what they are talking about but they did say it. Something about it's supposed to be 180 innings including the postseason. I know Sandy said (earlier in the season) no restrictions for Harvey in the post, but now I'm not so sure.
  10. I don't even know why I'm getting my blood up. This was not a must win game for us. We have some soft teams coming up. I'm still very confident that we will make the post. But if things go south between now and Oct. this will be pointed at as the turning point and Harvey's career in a Mets uniform might never recover from the flack.
  11. Should I go get my awesome Seaver 69 jersey and put it on on top of the hoodie and the 86 jersey?
  12. Okay, I'm putting on my lucky Mets jersey (over my kool Mets hoodie which I thought would be enough).

The radio guys said that Harvey looked upset about being taken out, but that he should've expected this since it was the plan. Apparently whatever broadcast Zvon is watching showed Harvey kickin' back with a brew saying "I'm done, bro!" No. But what I hoped to see was Harvey saying:" Hey, I'm a big boy. I can make my own decisions. I'm at 80 pitches. I'm good for at least one more inning." And bottom line we really don't know what was said. We can speculate. Yes, because you're angry at Harvey for not doing something that you cannot possibly know whether he's done it or not. Because Mets fans have to hate their best players. And make them media laughingstocks. And make them want out of the organizations ASAP. Because we can't have nice things. Come on. You know what kind of Mets fan I am. I don't diss my own players. I'm always optimistic. And I don't hate Harvey. This is an unprecedented situation as a Mets fan, this 5 innings and out stuff during a pennant race. I'm more disappointed with Harvey than angry. When it came to crunch time I expected him to step up and stay in.

I feel that ultimately the choice should be his. That's ridiculous. Terry Collins is the manager. He makes the decisions. Harvey, like pretty much every pitcher in baseball, will always insist that he can pitch longer. It's the manger's decision to decide when to pull a pitcher or leave him in. Collins made the wrong decision tonight based on crappy organizational policy. But in general, we'd crucify and manager who lets the pitcher tell him he wants to stay in the game. This is not your average situation for a pitcher. I can't look at it that way.

  19. Elster88 wrote: This is infuriating. I didn't think it would be, but it is. I know exactly what you mean. I was keeping my feelings in check, not sure how it would go as it went down with this pitch limit stuff. And this ended up being the worst possible scenario. Up 1-0. And he only gave up 1 freakin hit. 1! And Harvey could not speak for himself and say "I'm staying in"? I think he could have and should have.
  20. Mets Willets Point wrote: This isn't Boras's fault. This is all on Terry & Sandy. Let the fuckin' guy pitch, fellas. This. Harvey wanted to pitch. Harvey was able to pitch. Harvey was pitching well. They should've let him pitch. Then Harvey should have went to TC b4 the game and said: if I have to , if its a close game, I'll give u 7.

  22. And all of this will be blamed on Harvey. The NY media is going to crucify him.
