I love it. By the way, Joel Sherman is a #fucking #retard. yes. do i want to know what he said this time?
  2. Isringhausen invited to camp.
  3. Fman99 wrote: Comes back in the dog days of August and runs the fucking table. 15 starts, 11-2 record, 2.5-ish ERA and pitches a complete game shutout to clinch a playoff spot for the Metsies. That's what I'm talking about. btw, that CG shutout will be on 9/25, Sunday Night Baseball, against the Phillies, called by Bobby Valentine. I think it'll be more like 7-3, 3.7 ERA, but with lots more run support than he's used to. He'll finish strongly enough that there will be no question marks attached to his name in 2012.
  4. Benjamin Grimm wrote: Reports coming out today indicate that the Mets will be willing to negotiate with Jose during the season. Not clear if Reyes feels the same way. old news. Reyes has said he doesn't want to negotiate during the season. (but not that he wouldn't)
  5. The Second Spitter wrote: Jeter gets paid for his rare intangibles that have SABR so flummoxed they have yet to developed a statistic to measure them. Suzyn Waldman yesterday blamed A-Rod for Jeter's defensive woes last season. Cause A-Rod's hip hurt so Jeter was covering his ground too!
  6. Fman99 wrote: OK, well, if we're going to push things out till 9:30 then I can do any weeknight. Doesn't have to be a Wednesday so we can accommodate for smg58 that way. I have changed the draft to Tuesday 3/22 at 9:30 PM. Again, if that borks someone please let me know ASAP. At some point I will lose flexibility on draft scheduling. (Also 3/24 is out as it is Fboy's birthday, and the week of 3/26-4/1 I am on vacation.) 3/25 is my birthday. But wouldn't want to do it that last week anyway, need to have a couple of days to shuffle around those bench guys that end up not making the team.
  7. I expect this will be the last time I think about him until expectations in twelve.
  8. Benjamin Grimm wrote: 80 to 85 seems about right to me. I'd much rather see them win 85 games than 65, but you're right, there's little excitement in 85 wins unless the division (or the wild card) is especially tight. 85 wins is within striking distance for a roster adjustment in July that gets them over the hump, or a great year out of say Niese coupled with an injury to Halladay from actually winning the division. It's also a hot streak at the right time from winning the Wild Card. Maybe the Wild Card is pegged at 89 or so, and the Cardinals are leading but the Mets get hot and sweep them 9/20-9/22 and suddenly they're looking at the playoffs..

  10. Benjamin Grimm wrote: 2 Justin Turner I find this one rather intriguing. Is that what he wore last year? Also, if you gave me ten guesses, I probably wouldn't have picked 43 for R.A. Dickey. Is that what he wore last year? I'm much less attentive to uniform numbers than I used to be. I still associate 43 with Jim McAndrew. I've got a blue shirt with DICKEY and 43 on the back. so i imagine so.

  12. Fman99 wrote: Pitchers and catchers official reporting date at Port St Lucie is Wednesday. I am so ready. Tomorrow? Why are the Mets saying tomorrow and other people saying Wednesday? Don't I trust the Mets date over WFANs?
  13. .299, 15 HR, 15 Triples, 45 SB, .350 OBP,12 whiny comments from opposing players, 5 WAR, 1 MVP, and a partridge in a pear tree.
  14. John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: He's got a chance of sticking around longer than Castillo, IMO. He might also be the No. 5 starter, someone has to be and he prolly has more stuff than any of the other candidates. Fan/media racism will be his enemy. Would they be satisfied if he repeated 2008? 10-7, 4.22, 105/180 K/BB in 194 IP Pretty much. Castillo, while probably not as 'washed up' as people make him out to be, doesn't have the potential to contribute above and beyond what Ollie does. I'd accept that line out of our fifth starter. My 'ideal' I guess, would be Young and Cap, with Perez accepting Buffalo, which seems slim. When someone goes down, he comes up and has a decent couple of months as a bridge to Santana.
  15. I'd prefer the live draft not 3/15-3/20, but that's rather varied and probably one of the best times for it.
  16. Edgy DC wrote: Maybe it's tempting but not easy. It's not like the Mets were tight in the middle infield when he started 10-1 last season. Actually, I'd say the first month or two is when the defense up the middle was the best.
  17. Edgy DC wrote: I don't know that he's actually good. I have trouble trusting guys who throw that hard and don't K people. They can't economize their pitches. He looked like he had turned a corner in 2008 also, but was pretty bad in 2009. He definitely benefits from the good defense. we'll see if Murphy at second hurts his GIDP rate any. He gives up a lot of hits, but he gives up very little in the way of home runs, so that limits the big inning and the big damage. It's very easy to think that 2009 was in large part to Alex Cora.
  18. his second child is no longer expected, but actively burping. I expect his line to look similar.(probably minus the save) I expect his peak and valley of last year to not be as extreme, but still likely balance each other out. the CG shutout will come. I know warthen is still here but hopefully Collins lets him go further. Pelfrey is perfect for this team. He's that "workhorse" pitcher that some speculate the Mets need. We've got him, and he's actually good, unlikely the Millwoods out there. so, 220IP, 3 CG, 1 SHO, 7HR, 3.50 ERA, 120 Ks, 65 BBs. 2.8 WAR. 17 wins, 7 losses.
  19. Fman99 wrote: I'm happy to start a league up like last year. Here to check interest levels and get any dates in advance that you don't want a live draft. I managed to miss the draft last year and got totally totally screwed due to the NL only format, but i'm good with whatever we decide too.
  20. Or..Warthen was a big part of what got Meija into the pen to begin with last year.
  21. Looks like a lovefest mostly.
  22. last I heard Fossum _wasn't_ invited to major league camp.
  23. batmagadanleadoff wrote: Ceetar wrote: i'm supposed to expect something from this guy? gee..I dunno. It's all in the splits. Why is this and the other related threads called "Expectations of Eleven?" You've submitted more than 11 Mets and there's more than 11 of us. I'm going to assume that this is some clever play on words that's over my head. I imagine he was going for the alliteration thing. And referring to the year in which we're expecting it.
  24. i'm supposed to expect something from this guy? gee..I dunno. Hits about .260 with 5 home runs. 10 doubles. 35 RBI. Hits .380 with RISP. .5 WAR
