Edgy DC wrote: Ah, you so funny. Mets rallying in the third, without the benefit of a hit. mostly Santiago not playing 2B very well.

is double-spacing still the industry standard?

Dickey will pitch. Weber will pitch for the Tigers. Omar Quintanilla to start at second in place of Daniel Murphy, who strained his oblique in the cage yesterday.
-
And the first pitch thrown for the Mets will be Johan Santana, as it should be.

John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: Pineda confesses to shoulder pain after getting hammered in tonight's start and is having an MRI. His velocity had been an ongoing story in the papers this spring, coming low 90s when mid 90s was expected. The writers to me never seemed convinced of his explanation that it would come as the spring wore on. I guess it hasn't. he also confessed to trying to throw harder last night. You know, because everyone told him his velocity was down. That doesn't seem like a good thing.

got free tickets via Club Mets for Tuesday against the Nats. So going to that one too.

Travel is wearying, sure. But then these teams are frequently leaving NY at like midnight-1 am and playing the next day in say St. Louis at 7pm. There's no way they're arriving at their hotel before 6-7am and even attempting a full nights sleeping after that and still getting to the park on time is iffy. I can't imagine a Europe trip being much worse.

Benjamin Grimm wrote: Or, if it's just for a few days, you pick somebody other than Herrera. Someone who's on the 40 and has options. (There must be somebody who fits that description, right?) Rob Carson is the guy. Or you could use Edgin, who definitely has the options. Herrera or Edgin is not taking Byrdak's spot (don't vacate a 40 man spot on the 15 day DL) so you're losing someone else anyway. You could option Edgin. I don't know if the Mets want to burn an option on him, then again, if he's really on projecting as a middle reliever at best, he'll either be one of those or flamed out by the time he uses up 3 option years at this point.

you know what would help with the scheduling for some these international series? Doubleheaders! Instead of playing Saturday AND Sunday, play both on Saturday and give yourself an extra travel day.

If Byrdak is ready, then i assume Hererra is a goner, too? a shame; i like him and we might lose him if he has to pass through waivers. Herrera already passed through waivers. He's not on the 40 man. but what happens if we start with Byrdak on the DL and add Hererra to the roster, then we want to send him down when Byrdak comes back? Presumably he'll pass through waivers again. What's the chance anyone wants him after a handful of innings that didn't want him a month ago? Or you may be able to option him. not sure if he has any left.

MLB: we want to play reg season games in Europe interesting. also interesting is a line about the first qualifying round for the WBC being in September in Germany. I'm going to be in Germany in September. hmm..

Someone tweeted that if Byrdak is not available they feel more comfortable with Herrera sneaking back through waivers than Edgin. Makes sense I suppose. I think this is perhaps faulty logic. Since the Mets need to take someone off the 40 man to put either of those guys on, and they won't be adding that guy back so they could just option Edgin (and Herrera too? Not sure if he's got them left)

we're falling behind on these. I think Byrdak is next (I skipped Beato..) Tim Byrdak. Word is he'll be ready pretty close to Opening Day, if not ON Opening Day. He was born in Oak Lawn, IL and went to Oak Forest High School. I gather he knows about Oak Trees. Last Year: 2-1, 3.82 ERA over 37.2 innings. 1.407 WHIP, 11.2 K/9 against lefties over 110 PA he had a 6 SO/BB rate, his opponents held to a .604 OPS. 36 Ks. So what about 2012?

Beat Writers. David Lennon promoted to 'columnist' with Newsday. What's that mean? That's not what he was already?
