I can imagine what a healing hand fracture feels like every time you hit a vibrating shot off the handle or the end of the bat. <<SHUDDER>> So I imagine three weeks will be a bit longer before he's contributing at 100%. I'd guess six weeks until he's back in the lineup, and nine before he's himself again. At least it's not his left hand. 99mph Matt Harvey fastballs pounding the glove over and over.

The media dubbed him the dark knight and he's going along with it. good for him. I hope the team does, too, with a Harvey/Bat signal thingy that Mike Golic has been advocating on ESPN, and a pre-game video for each Harvey start that has clips of all the guys who've played Batman kicking ass, and the 60s tv theme song his entrance music, selling Bat ears hats with mets logo and Harvey's 33. Harvey may not be the hero you want, but he's the hero we need. I would absolutely buy a Mets hat with bat ears and Harvey's logo on one side and the Mets logo on the other. The Mets should get this into a promo asap. Get Fox to sponsor it as a Gotham tie-in or something.
  3. No. Saw this on Twitter: "Early in yesterday's game, the Dark Knight threw a pitch & Gary said "And Harvey dents the outside corner." Had to be on purpose. #Mets"
  4. if we have to sacrifice a good player a week to not lose, do we have enough to win the World Series or would we run out?
  5. reverse splits for Chipotle rocket
  6. I hope I'm not putting the cart before the Texiera here but I've got a busy day tomorrow what with this baptismal thingy and like 30.8 people in my house after that. If it's not the Muno Home Opener consider it the Kirk starting home opener, or the Muno should've started home opener. As I understand it, It's Matt Harvey and the Mets trying to flush Kohler and the fish.
  7. That's right, this is the Jacob deGrom's first start at home that's not the official Home Opener. he faces Mat Latos at 7:10pm Latos met his wife through his friend, who was also a minor league baseball player, and was dating and living with the girl. They now have a cat, named Cat Latos.
  8. consider he's been pretty damn good for years I'd imagine that's so. Sure, hit's produce more runs than walks do, but I'd rather have the guy that takes 10 more walks than the guy that has 10 more hits. In almost every case the guy that walks is the better player. i.e. a guy batting .270/.330 produces more runs than a guy batting .300/300. So yeah, Duda's fine at .250/.350
  9. Edgy MD wrote: He's everywhere this season. Where has he been up 'til now? He's from Valley Stream but I get the idea he's been laying low during lean times. Oh, that guy. He's eaten in the same high school cafeteria as Steve Buschemi, and me.

Duda wrote: "I wouldn't read too much into it. It's 10 games...It's not like I'm laying out missiles"
  11. nobody cares about batting average.

Fuck that, he's the fucking MVP and the Mets are on pace for 113 wins. Who's the fucking MVP? Harvey, obviously.
  13. Wake me when he's hitting better than .172/.250/.310 or .235/.273/.352 for his career. Also he has only twice as many XBH as Tejada in more than 3x the PA.
  14. John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: Good work you guys. Amazin too, that last night dinger allowed Flores to surpass Tejada's career HR total in less than 25% of plate appearances. I'm writing all of this to pick a fight with Ceeter. if only a HR once in a while was everything. It was everything last night. No Flores = No victory. But you know what I'm really getting at: Your position (correct me if I'm wrong) that Flores isn't any better a hitter than Tejada is. Without Flores we might had the offense to win those other three games. That Tejada is a better hitter is demonstrably true. What you mean is the level of doubt towards whether that will ever change.

John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: I'd have to look it up, and this probably isn't fair to Ruben Tejada, but I'll go out on a limb and say it: Ruben Tejada hasn't ever, nor ever will, hit a game-tying, 3-run home run for the Mets. Ruben Tejada: 7 Career Home Runs 1 leading off, 0 walk-off, 0 tying, 1 go ahead his biggest WPA added was .117 on 6/4/2014 against Edwin JAckson and the Cubs in the top of the 4th with the Mets up 3-2 already.
  17. Going back a bit, the Mets are playing .500 baseball over their last 272 games.
  18. Mets Guy in Michigan wrote: Jeff Conine was with the Marlins forever. Him? Just saw a tweet that Giancarlo took over the HR lead. Does he also have the triples lead?
  19. Looks like Ralph, Keith (and my father) were right. Thanks to Seawolf for sending along some extra Duda rookie? cards for him, even if it confused my wife as to why I was getting mail from Stonybrook.
  20. Edgy MD wrote: Edgy MD wrote: How much patience did they show to get him where he is now? He goes back to Jerry Manuel. Considering he was average in 2012 and a solid hitter every other year I'd say the patience was in finding him a place to play that he wouldn't wreck them defensively. I didn't say otherwise. Well Zvon did. And he's hardly the only one.
  21. Bartolo Colon fresh off his solid game at the plate will start for the Mets against the Yankee-tainted David Phelps. Phelps always struck me as a Carlos Torres type, and not good as this 6th starter type. He gets his first start after 1 IP this season in the place of Alvarez.

  23. well, Utley and LaRoche are 25th and 32nd in PA at Citi field. So it's not really that surprising, the Mets have just had a lot of turnover and some of the guys that have amassed PA are guys like Castillo, and Turner. Cora, Tatis. Eric Young. Tejada.
  24. tomorrow is Colon Home opener. Non-Home Opener deGrom Home Opener Sunday Home Opener
  25. batmagadanleadoff wrote: Why does every home game IGT say "Home Opener"? How many home openers are there? one for each starter, obviously. This is the Dillon Gee Home Opener.
