For the curious, the Major League record for length of games by innings is 26, Brooklyn and Boston on May 1, 1920. It could have gone longer, but was called a tie 1-1 on account of darkness. Longest Mets game, 25 innings, St. Louis 4, New York 3 on September 11, 1974.
