Yeah, he lost time to injury, but he's done so in the past as well, and do you really want to bank that much on injury history not repeating? What happens if the Mets sign Reyes for 5 years at a big number and Jose goes down? Thats a big Matzoh ball hanging out.
  3. Well, I guess Anaheim or the MFY's are the next to belly up. Reyes is not necessarily a goner. After the Mets win the WS in 2011 and Reyes goes apeshit maybe he gets paid. If its "Hammy" Reyes shows up in 2011 then maybe the Mets can do better at SS.

I propose a major league team for the deep south , a team where all these good ole boys can play together, be like the real American team. You mean the Braves?
  6. I agree with just about eveything Scott says.
  7. Don't you see when people are just kidding. You push so hard sometimes it comes off as bullying. No need to be so, so literal, is there?
  8. Edgy DC wrote: It's hardly an Omar Minaya exclusive to pursue Latinos. In 2010, 11 of 16 National League teams had a Latino-born or -descended player as their number-one catcher. spin, spin, spin!
  9. Edgy DC wrote: Omar Shmomar. Minaya opened his regime's free agency era by signing Pedro Martinez. This is about as different a statement as there can be. I's a latino statement que pasa por favor!

  13. Edgy DC wrote: Also, as a result of carefully structured business entities, the McCourts have "paid no federal or California state income taxes since at least 2004," according to the filing. That's a WTF sentence I missed the last time around. It is possible that the McCourts showed losses on different entities or personal tax ID's leading one to say "they paid no taxes to CA." It might be more accurate to say they had no year end tax liabilty. Maybe...
  14. Is Omar secretly still on duty?
  15. John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: Slate was the guy who advocated the Mets do those "feats of strength" at the opening of every camp, jumping competitions, etc. They dialed that back after everyone got hurt in '09. Doe Slate celebrate Festivus?
  16. It ain't over til the fat GM sings.. In the spirit of pitching reclamation projects Rich Harden is floating around.
  17. Where did this 6 million dollar addition to Mets payroll cap come from.? Are the Mets broke?
  18. I'm holding out for a 2010-11 signing.
  19. Came in 9th in NL Cy Young voting in 2007..Had some arm issues. A bit of a soft tosser now with a high WHIP. Decent gamble at the right price.
