  1. Also - Jose Oquendo, Manager of Puerto Rico.
  2. Gah! Two double-posts! Scutaro's got an interesting situation. He could choose to play for either Italy or Venezuela. On edit: Venezuela, not Puerto Rico.
  3. Now that I looked it up: February 9th Todd Pratt Mookie Wilson Doug Linton Notable Non-Mets: Bill Veeck John Kruk Vic Wertz Clete Boyer Vladimir Guerrero Mookie turns 50 next year.
  4. The reason I started this thread was to discuss the Mets' roster spots in more detail, particularly the bench and bullpen, rather than a general list of everybody we have. What does every team seem to need? On the bench: Backup Catcher Fourth Outfielder Reserve Middle Infielder Reserve Infielder/Outfielder Power Off The Bench Speed Off The Bench And the bullpen: Closer Setup Man Middle Reliever Long Reliever Lefty-Killer One Out Specialist Anybody see other needs a major league team requires?
  5. Apparently he's being shopped rather vigorously.
  6. You know, the comment he made about Arizona being his first choice is very very suspicious...
  7. He does need to learn how to draw walks and not strike out as much, but he still deserves long-term moolah. I'd start with $3 million in 2007.
  8. Taking Abreu would probably end up shifting our lineup this way: 1. Reyes 2. Abreu 3. Beltran 4. Delgado 5. Wright 6. Floyd 7. Lo Duca 8. Matsui 9. (Pitcher)
  9. The immortal Shel Silverstein used to write poems for Playboy.
  10. Well we're gonna have to keep some of that $23.5 million available for Reyes next year - and for Heilman and Seo, for that matter.
  11. And after the miserable J.D. Closser experiment this year, I think the Rockies are in the market for a catcher.
  12. When do Wright and Reyes become arbitration-eligible?
  13. I don't think we're still paying Mr. Deli Sandwich.
  14. Indeed it is a good thing. I can't stand the thought of his defense.
  15. Seriously??? Wow. If so, could we hurry up and move Matsui?
  16. I'd also like to know why the hell we're sending them two prospects when they're desperate to move him.
  17. The prospect of Soriano joining the Mets grows ever dimmer.
  18. I love Anna Benson.
  19. I voted "no opinion" because I can't make any judgments yet. Let's see how Lo Duca produces in a Mets uniform. He's supposed to be a great clubhouse guy and works very well with pitching staffs. He's one of the better catchers in baseball and could very well pan out. Let's wait and see on him.
  20. Are we going to be getting all of our catchers from the Marlins from now on?
  21. Feel free to move it.
  22. I have a feeling this is some kind of signal that Manny's on his way.
  23. With the acquisition of Paul LoDuca, here's how our roster is shaping up: C - Paul LoDuca 1B - Carlos Delgado 2B - Kazuo Matsui SS - Jose Reyes 3B - David Wright LF - Cliff Floyd CF - Carlos Beltran RF - Victor Diaz B - Xavier Nady B - Tike Redman B - Chris Woodward B - Ramon Castro B - Jeff Keppinger B - Anderson Hernandez SP - Pedro Martinez SP - Tom Glavine SP - Kris Benson SP - Steve Trachsel SP - Jae Seo RP - Billy Wagner RP - Aaron Heilman RP - Juan Padilla RP - Heath Bell RP - Victor Zambrano RP - Tim Hamulack Lineup: 1. Jose Reyes 2. Carlos Beltran 3. David Wright 4. Carlos Delgado 5. Cliff Floyd 6. Victor Diaz 7. Paul LoDuca 8. Kazuo Matsui 9. (Pitcher)
  24. Had we not traded Petit, I would have been open to a Benson trade. But now, forget it.
  25. Todd Pratt
