My favorite Mad Dog moment was when a caller asked him how slugging percentage was calculated, and he had no idea. The caller asked if it maybe had something to do with total bases or extra base hits, and the Dog said No, he was sure that wasn't it.

Wouldn't you want to get to the ballpark a little later rather than earlier, if BP were shortened? Maybe Jerry does it differently, but if I were shortening BP, I'd start it later rather than cutting it off earlier and giving the players a little extra time to play Texas hold'em in the clubhouse.

A farm system's raw material is 18-21-year-old kids, which means it replenishes its resources pretty completely every three years. If you trade away four or five prospects, you're not bankrupting the farm system for a generation.

Also, it seems as though Willie's bought into all this "Oh, they did it the wrong way" bushwah.

Dealing with adversity is not Willie's strong suit. He has a way of saying things to the press that he shouldn't. I would be really worried if Jerry Manuel hadn't been prepared with his own ideas about running the ballclub. I think Willie needs a slithering henchman.
