Well that's my constant. Even without Wildboy on the mound, if the tying run is behind you in the ninth, you take a strike no matter what.

Edgy MD wrote: Cahna for Guillorme. Interesting. Especially with Nido up after JD. Down 4 you have to look ahead and you don't want Nido up as the tying run with 2 outs. Not Buck's best day. That's certainly the way I was thinking. I was also under the impression that Buck figured the lefty would be out of the game if and when Nido came up, so he would have Mazeika against a righthander. But you need baserunners before you get the tying run up there. Letting Guillorme try to get on against an ineffectively wild lefty, and following that with Cahna and hopefully Tying-Run Davis seemed like the way to go, and a smarter play than trying to use those two guys to load the bases for Nido or Zeke as the tying run.

Boo-ronies!

Cahna for Guillorme. Interesting.

Escobar, if you swing, we'll have paragraphs.

McNeil, if you swing, we'll have words.

Do it for the hawk!

IMPORTANT NOTICE Joely Rodriguez just came in the game and allowed a run on the first pitch, as one of Hunter's leftover baserunners came in. But this was a batter who had reached on an error, meaning T-Hunt is still clean on the ERA chart. Career ERA as a Met, No Minimum Innings Pitched 1) Tommy Hunter: 0.00 (9.2 IP) T2) Dan Schatzeder: 0.00 (5.2 IP) T2) C.J. Hunter got his hit last year while Pillar's nose was stuffed with gauze.

Tommy Hunter putting his all-time team-leading ERA on the line.

Gittin' it done to the opposite field. Keep doin' that.

Alcantara looks gassed himself now. Everything is up.

The clue was "Mets commentator Darling." The answer, highlighted, was RON.

And KAPOW!! First major league hit.

And 3-1.

De La Cruz walks. Bezes loaded. Tying run on third. Go-ahead on second. Tight spot for Lugo. I BELIEVE in Lugo, but this is where convention works against managers. Buck should be going to his top reliever here, if he's available.

I fear Bassitt is on fumes.

AND LINDOR PLATES HIM!!

Yup. On the other side, the Mets are doing a terrific job pounding the top of the ball downward. But Marte GIVES NO SHITS AND DRIVES A TRIPLE!!

He seems to have the same game plan on everybody. Sooner or later, somebody is gonna guess right on that change.

Bassitt looking good pitching at the knees in the first, though it took a few tries to find an out pitch for Garcia.

Wait, I'm confused at how that's a no. "Did Buck say this thing about Nido?" "No, that was Buck, talking about Nido." "OK."

Before McCann went down, he was splitting starts with Nido on something like a 60/40 basis, and when he got hurt, that ratio continued with Nido getting the 60 and Mazeika getting the 40, but it's sure been a lot more Nido of late. He's hitting the ball hard but not getting the results. Mazeika just isn't hitting. But look at Nido here, getting the call for a day game after a night game, against an All-Star quality righthander. He may have thrown a ball pointlessly into centerfield in the ninth inning last night, but he has the lion's share of Buck's faith.
