  1. Buck in the post-game. "Is Diaz in game to face Gallo there? Do you stick with Otto if the Yankees don't pinch-hit there?" "I was going to ... Do I have to answer that?" "Well, I don't have subpoena power, so you can say whatever you're comfortable sharing." "Well, these days, that's no guarantee you're going to get the truth anyhow."
  2. Atlanta beats Philly and keeps pace.
  3. Gosh. I imagine that folks have gotten hurt during a batting practice session before, but I can't think of any.

  6. It's pretty much written in 20-point type in Crash Davis' cliche book.

  8. I guess Diaz just wanted to show he could pull off a six-out save.
  9. McNeil stays at second and Jankowski comes in anyways. Hmmm...
  10. Well, working from the assumption that things proceed the same, the non-balk call ends up costing the Mets a run. Interesting decisions here. If Guillorme comes in for defense now, the Mets lose the DH. And, assuming he comes in anyhow, does he go to second and McNeil to left, or do you send in Jankowski in left, and burn all but Mazeika?
  11. The right move there might have been to let Canha bunt 'em over. Or ask Jankowski to. Mets went for three.
  12. Not a lot of loose material in Vogelbach's jersey.
  13. Marwin is a good hobbit name.
  14. It's better to post your hot take and then get the facts. It keeps things moving and it's more Internetty that way.
  15. Joey Gallo? Joey Gallo's dead!! I'm Joey CALLO!
  16. Sweet catch by Canha, but allow me to once again reject porches going up against the foul line in the outfield. No one should have to slide to save themselves from wall trauma on a popup in fair territory.
  17. It's a good time to tack on here if the Yanks are serious about bringing in Loaisiga against the heart of the Mets order. Elsewise, there's a damn good chance that this game comes down to Judge vs. Diaz in the ninth.
  18. Matt Carpenter is 0-for-3. This drops his OPS to 1.233.
  19. Brandon Nimmo has been uncharacteristically swinging at a lot of garbage of late, and may need a day off to help him get right.
  20. Plus, the bye team gets to save their bullets for the next round. So, yeah, I think we've mostly established that first place is still worth fighting hard for.
  21. McNugget should've gone for the tag. Falafel over-slid the bag summat.

Not Killebrew, but rather just a hair off the pace of Barry Bonds circa 2001 [1 HR every 6.6 ABs as opposed to 6.5 for Bonds] Put another way, Carpenter is hitting HRs at nearly double the rate of Judge this season and only Schwarber, Alvarez (HOU), and Riley (ATL) are within 10 of Judge's 37. And wearing Rickey Henderson's number, for Pete's sake.
