Cliff played with Fernando, Sr. for the Expos when Junior was just three years old.

Cliff Floyd: "They were a lot of things I wanted to do during my career, but I was like, 'Hey, I'll holla at y'all later'."

I like how fate futzing up his defense seemingly makes Scherzer more determined to keep his defense from having to work.

Yeah, I don't know why I included him, even as I wrote that I wasn't. Did I forget somebiddy else?

Kevin Mitchell, Howard Johnson, Butch Huskey, Dave Kingman, Jim Hickman, Frank Thomas, Elliot Maddox, Lenny Randle, Keith Miller, Joe McEwing, Hubie Brooks, Jeff McKnight ... Am I close to 80 yet?

Had he been activated?

Marsh looks very marshy.

Nido is probably better throwing the ball right to third. I never see the pump-fake fool the runner over there.

I don't know if McNeil hurt his head or his knee, but there's something weird about the quick-draining turf of today that when guys slide on the knee, it can snag.

Heidi Watney to the rescue! (Who is Heidi Watney?)

They haven't even noted if either of the replaced players is in the dugout.

For what it's worth, I don't think the two changes are related.

The amazing thing is that there are three persons in the booth and none of them seem to have heard of injury substitutions, and they seem to think this is some sort of inscrutable Buck Showalter strategy.

Canha has four career appearances at third, none since 2016.

Could this announcing crew be more confused and confusing?

McNeil out? Canha at third? STUPID DEPTH CHART THREAD!!!

Canha gonya.

Weird shit happening in the Mets dugout.

Mets now out of infielders in the second inning.

TV beggar!

Done. I voted for Endy to the end, and I don't feel that bad about it, though I'm not sure these should be the finalists.

Did he beg? Why would anybody beg for a qualifying offer? Is there a scenario where it helps a player's free agency marketability? Either way, the offer got the Mets McLean, Virginia's OWN Nick Morabito!

That https://www.mlb.com/news/dominic-smith-2022-season-mets-futurearticle I quote from above has him suggesting that he hasn't been himself most of the year, on or off the field, and he's currently seeking counseling. He admits to sulking after sitting behind Canó in the early part of the year.
